April Newsletter
Side Creek Elementary
Message from the Principal
This year is flying by and we enjoy watching our students grow and flourish. This month we have our CMAS state assessments for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. We are excited for students to show all that they have learned! We are planning all of our spring and end-of-year events and look forward to connecting with you. Thank you for your partnership and if you ever have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out.
CMAS Testing
Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will start CMAS testing this month. Students will be testing ELA and Math starting April 9th through April 15th. Fifth graders will also test Science April 16th through April 18th. Please do not schedule appointments or vacations during the testing window. Also please plan ahead to ensure your child is present and on time. This is an important assessment for your child to show what they know.
Safety Message
Safety is a top priority for us. During arrival and dismissal, please slow down and follow traffic laws. Do not cross through the drop off loop. Model for students the importance of crossing at the crosswalks only. Please do not park in the drop off loop, use one of the parking lots. Student drop off should only happen in the drop off loop. Please do not drop off on the street or parking lots. We must work together to keep everyone safe. Thank you for your partnership!

Meet Ms. Nancy!
Meet Ms. Carolina!
Hello! My name is Carolina and this is my first year at Side Creek. Even though I am new to this school, I have been a para for APS for 6 years and my very first para job was when I was living overseas in the middle east (such a long commute!). I have a degree in fine arts and am always looking for new ways to incorporate it into my everyday life, along with learning any new crafts I can get my hands on .I haven't always lived in Colorado, but I am very happy with the time I have spent here with the many family members that I get to see every day. I am so pleased that I have gotten the opportunity to meet such wonderful people all over the world, but I am always the happiest with the time I get to spend with my local community, including the wonderful Side Creek staff and families!
Meet Ms. Meghan!
My name is Meghan Dowling. I was born in Massachusetts but have spent most of my life living in Aurora, Colorado! I have a 6 year old daughter named Kali and help take care of my 7 year old niece, Serenity! I was a pre-k teacher for about 14 years and have always loved working with children. I started working at Side Creek to spend more time with my own kids but I love it so much I plan to stay as long as I can and continue building strong relationships with the children I work with!
