We are a tiger family
February 2021
We have been very busy with MAP testing and STAAR SIMS (STAAR practice tests.)
As you know the Texas Education Agency (TEA) is not assigning school ratings due to so many disruptions associated with COVID-19. However, we are still working hard to ensure students perform to the best of their ability as these scores will be used for the end of the year grade level decisions such as what interventions they will need, what are their strengths, etc. For our 5th grade students, their STAAR scores will be used to help place them in the correct classes. There's no escaping the state assessments, and at the end of the day, we welcome having a tool to measure what our students have mastered throughout the year.
We will send MAP scores home and if you don't receive them, please contact your child's teachers. This is another important assessment that provides a lot of information for teachers and parents.
A quick reminder regarding "quarantined" KOC students. Only administrators can classify students as being "quarantined." Once we identify a KOC student as being "quarantined," we will change their status from KOC to KOL and assign them a home device if needed. Some parents of KOC students are keeping their child at home because they are not feeling well and saying that they are "quarantined." If KOC students are not feeling well, they will simply be marked absent. If there is a reason where being quarantined is necessary, then the parent must call an administrator and we will take it from there.
If a KOC student is absent, they can not participate on-line. They will be marked absent and they can make up their work once they return. In order for students to participate on-line, they need to be officially classified as KOL students.
Please call us if you have any questions.

No Valentine's Day Parties
Dear Parents,
Unfortunately this year we will not have having a Valentine's Day Party, instead on Wednesday, February 10th we will be having a Valentine's Day card exchange. We would like to have the students bring their cards of their choice in the closed box and they will open it in the classroom. We will have them write their student's names before they exchange cards.
Remote Learning Days
Thursday, February 11, 2021 is a district-wide day of Remote Learning (Learning from home) for ALL students.
Our teachers are working harder than ever to teach students both in-person and virtually. To support our teachers in providing a positive learning experience for your children, one area in need of immediate attention is additional planning and preparation time for our classroom teachers. To that end, we are designating the following dates as Remote Learning Days:
Thursday, February 11, 2021
Friday, March 12, 2021
Friday, April 16, 2021
On these Remote Learning Days, Klein On Campus students are strongly encouraged to learn remotely on these days and will receive a packet to work on at home. Klein On line students will also receive a packet or assignments on Schoology in an asynchronous format (not live Zoom.) Students who attend school on these days will be monitored by teacher assistants and required to complete the same work as students in remote learning.
On campus learning will be available for parents who request it by filling out this RSVP form:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe1_RD3nBepC70oOlEQ5wByubrdg_CEydabZo7pqocI34O-RQ/viewform
Transportation, breakfast, and lunch will be provided on campus.
All students must turn in completed assignments at the end of that day in order to be counted present on these Remote Learning days.
Please call the front office if you have any questions at 832-484-5800.
