Triton Times
Eastlake Middle School 1.28.2019
Mighty Tritons
Thank you for a fairly smooth opening for the second semester. Believe it or not, we are already planning for next year. The administration team will be speaking with each department about the master schedule and various data around LTEL. Lots of great things happening next week. Please be mindful of the following:
A. FAC. We will be meeting this Tuesday. Please make sure that you speak with your department representatives with any concerns, questions and/or comments.
B. Budget Update and Master Schedule. We are meeting with the department chairs over the next two weeks to give updates on our budgets. We will also call you in as a department to review some of the expectations for 2019-20 master schedule. We are looking good in some places and in other places for expenditures, but we need to consider all options for being more financially prudent.
C. Safe School Ambassadors. Training will take place on January 28th and 29th. Almero emailed the roster of participating students on 01.25.2019. All students are expected to report directly to the Pavilion on Monday. Please be sure to mark all of these students present on your roster.
D. Extended Lunch. Enjoy your time this Thursday with your colleagues in the library. I will be making announcements to the student.
E. Social Emotional Learning Survey. If you did not have the opportunity to administer the survey, please make sure you do it this week. Thank you.
F. Safety Drills. Dean will send you a list of the sequence of drills with times and expectations next Monday. Let's hold the students to high expectations.
G. Student Recognition. The 7th Grade Academic Awards Ceremony is on Friday, February 1 at 8:30am in the pavilion. There are 180 students being recognized for having a 4.0 Scholarship GPA during first semester. Parents are invited to attend, which will affect the traffic in the morning. Please plan accordingly. The 8th Grade Academic Awards Ceremony will be the following Friday, February 8.
Don't forget to check out the AP section about Disneyland and Sea World tickets.
Congrats Mrs. Niboli and the Tritonbots Teams! First Place!
Curiosity (Triton Trait of the Month!)
“I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.”
—Albert Einstein
Why does curiosity matter? From Character Lab
When you’re curious about something, you process it deeply, rather than superficially. You also voluntarily spend more time learning about things that spark your curiosity. As a result, you more readily remember what you learn. In general, people who are more curious are happier and better liked.
In the weeks to come, be sure to nominate students for Triton of the Week who exemplify these traits of Curiosity.
