Greenlodge Weekly Update 4/6/2020
#ReachForYourBest
Dear Families,
I hope that this week's newsletter finds you and your family healthy and safe. It has been a pleasure to see many pictures posted on class Instagram pages and shared with staff! We have many creative families in our community who are thinking outside the box and providing enriching experiences for their children despite the school closures. I encourage you all to reach out to the families in your child's class to arrange "virtual" playdates, share ideas and offer one another support. Here is the link to our Online Family Directory.
The Dedham School Administration and the Dedham Education Association are working on a Remote Learning Memorandum of Agreement. Please continue to use the Home learning link to grade level resources for your child's daily assignments. There are a variety of ways to share your child's work with your teacher including email, google docs, google classroom, pictures, phone messages and asynchronous video. At this time, all work will either be scored as credit/no credit.
It is important to establish a routine for both you and your child. The Governor Baker has recommended students spend "half the time" at home working as when in school.
Here is a sample schedule:
8:30 - Get Dressed and Eat Breakfast
9:00 - Watch the morning announcements and begin School Work
10:30 - Snack and fresh air break
11:00 - School Work
12:00 - Lunch and Outside Play (see PE activities for ideas)
1:00 - Choose an enrichment activity - Art, Music, Library Media
2:00 - Email your child's teacher, post a picture to class Instagram or submit work through Google docs/classroom to share the work you have done.
Here is a printable schedule to help you organize your school day at home. Mr. Toomey also started this Padlet. Ideas to help with home learning have been posted. Please feel free to post something if it is working for you!
I recognize that every Greenlodge family has a unique situation during these times, and not everyone will be able to manage the closure in the same way. While we want our students to engage in academics during the closure, I want to emphasize the the health and safety of our families is most important!
Kind Regards,
Ashley Bodkins
