Principal's Thoughts

Dear Page Hilltop Families:

Yesterday morning our Paws Power student leadership group hosted a car wash at Archer's Mobil station. What an amazing day it was! I am so proud of our Paws Power student leaders who were able to participate yesterday! I know that for some of you it meant combining a day of car washing and playing soccer. You certainly got a good workout.

Thank you to all of the parents who transported the children back and forth. Special thanks to the following parents who were active participants in our car wash: Mrs. Browning, Mrs. DeBlasio, Mr. Gibbons, Mrs. Shea, Mr. Tada, Mrs. Tosi & Mrs. Wright.

As I mentioned previously, our students made the day an amazing success. They washed and rinsed car after car, most of the time washing four cars/trucks at a time. They worked enthusiastically for four straight hours. The students ended up wet and soapy but with smiles on their faces.

Besides washing the cars they took turns holding signs, shouting to passing cars and doing their best dance moves. Throughout the morning, I marveled at their energy, enthusiasm & positive school spirit. There was never a lack of effort from anyone.

As each newly cleaned car left the area, they received a loud & happy "Thank You" from the students.

We would like to thank the many guests of our car wash (PH families & staff as well as many community members). Thank you for supporting this activity. We would like to acknowledge the dozens of "unknown people" who gave donations to the cause without asking for a wash. They simply wanted to support our school and young students. We are most grateful to all of you!

Kudos to all of our champion car washers: Abby, Audrey, Ava, Avery, Bree, Brynne, Callum, Daya, Haley, Hannah, Jaidyn, Jonathan, Livia, Logan, Maya, Mia, Ryann, Sebastian, Simone, Sophia, Tori, Trinity & Violet.

As a result of your efforts, we were able to raise over $1,000 !! WOW!!! In the spirit of community service that this group embraces, these monies will help out many people. Some of the monies will be used to help students/families that may not have funds for end-of-school events. Some of the monies will be used to sponsor a "KONA-ICE Day" at Page Hilltop and all students will receive a KONA Ice treat during recess next week. Some of the monies will also be used to provide some special treats for our hard-working teachers and staff.

All of these kind deeds are thanks to our champion car washers. And, now that we all know what great car washers you are, I think your parents will be needed you to wash their cars at home!

Thanks, as always, for sharing your children with us!

4th Grade Environmental Club

A group of 4th graders met to form an Environmental Club after school on Friday, June 3. They planted a native pollinator garden that will be a food source and provide a habitat for pollinators and other animals. Thanks to the Ayer DPW for helping prep the site and getting rid of invasive species that had grown there.

Before and after photos are below.

Mrs. Crutchfield's class recently planted grass seeds and grew their own grass heads. Each student had a journal that they used to make predictions and write their observations over the past few weeks. They tracked their growth by measuring the grass twice a week. They also hid one grass head in a dark space without sunlight. This grass head grew faster than the rest, but it wasn't as healthy as the grass heads in the window.

5th Grade Tours ASRMS

On Wednesday, June 1st our 5th graders and their teachers took a short bus ride over to visit our friends at ASRMS. Students were welcomed by Assistant Principal Scicutella and provided with a tour of the facility by National Junior Honor Society members (7th and 8th graders). Before boarding the bus back to Page Hilltop, students enjoyed an ice cream treat in the cafe.

Thank you for hosting us ASRMS. Fifth-grade parents should be on the lookout this summer for an invite to a summer event for incoming fifth-graders to be hosted at ASRMS.

STAY TUNED - We may need to change our Spring Concert date from Wednesday to Thursday, as a result of possible wet weather. We will watch the weather forecast, for the next day or two, and then make a decision.

If we do change the date, all PH families will receive a Blackboard email notice.

Mrs. Richter will keep all chorus members informed.

Page Hilltop CAR WASH

On Saturday, June 4th, 4th and 5th-grade Paws Power members held a car wash in downtown Ayer at Archer's Mobile. PLT members washed dozens of cars between 8:00 - 12:00 all to raise money for some of the end-of-the-year events we have planned at Page Hilltop.

PAWS POWER - Updates

Our PAWS POWER student leadership group will be walking downtown after school on Friday. We will be doing some community service activities as we plant flowers near the town hall & library. After we complete our planting project, we will be having dinner at the Cottage. Parents of group members are welcome to join us for both planting and dinner.

We are currently accepting applications, for the 2022 -2023 school year, for substitute teachers/paraprofessionals, cafeteria workers, and substitute custodians. Please contact our office for additional information or take a look at our postings on SchoolSpring.

On Thursday, June 16th we will close out our school year in exciting fashion with a "Family Fun Festival" from 5:30 - 8:30. This will be held outside, at the Page Hilltop entrance. There will be music, face-painting, bake sale and lots of fun!

Ice Cream Social forms have been sent home so that we can plan appropriately for the amount of ice cream & toppings needed. The cost is $3.00 per sundae.

Mark your calendars - it will be a fun time. We hope that you will join us!

Grades K - 2 students will be celebrating Field Day tomorrow.

  • All K - 2 students will participate in field day events from 9:00 - 1:00 (including lunch)
  • All 3 - 5 students will participate in field day events from 11:00 - 3:00 (including lunch)
