2nd Grade News
December 9-13
Quick Notes
- From the Art Room
2nd graders just finished reviewing how to draw 3D shapes. They will now use that knowledge to draw a Still Life.
Please have your child bring a stuffed animal, action figure, or object that's not breakable, from home to draw in art class. The item MUST fit inside their back and be school appropriate. Students will set up there Still Life in art class, take a picture using their iPad and then bring the object home.
If you would rather have your child keep the object at home, they can take a picture with their iPad.

Reading- We will continue to research various ethnic and cultural celebrations. We will stop and jot as we read for sustained amounts of time.
FunDations (phonics study)- We will learn the different sounds the suffix -ed can make (d, t, id)
Please Remember- It is that time of year when it is so easy to put off reading with your child. Please aim for 4 of 7 evenings a week. Routine and continuity are key!
Writing- We will write to share thoughts, stories, and ideas that are personally important.
Science- We will observe plants and discover how their physical characteristics help them meet their basic needs.
Math- We will work on comparing numbers through 999. We will review the importance of place value and how the place of a number changes how much that number is worth.
Quick Idea- Continue practicing those basic math facts.
