From the Principal
Dear Hawkins Families!
We are so excited for our Spring Carnival! It is TODAY from 6-8pm at Hawkins. Our PTO has worked super hard to make this a VERY fun event for our families. It is our last hurrah for the 2018-19 school year. This event is FREE and it will include games, food truck and Jack's custard for purchase, bounce houses, book fair, and so much more! I hope to see you all there!
Next week our lighthouse team will be hosting a fundraiser for the Brighton Area Schools Survivor Week Fundraiser. We do this every year where the money raised goes to a local charity of the BHS students' choice. We are going to have a Hat Day next week on Friday, May 24th. Please bring in $1.00 and wear a hat to school to support our Brighton Area Schools Community!
I would like to remind you to please keep all sports equipment at home including baseball bats, lacrosse sticks, etc. We do allow soft balls to be brought to school for recess but not sports equipment. We have seen an influx of these items here in school this week. We appreciate your help:-)
Have a wonderful weekend!

Mileage Club
MILEAGE CLUB TIME is almost here!!
Hello Parents! Mileage Club time is starting next week. For those of you who are unfamiliar with it, Mileage Club is a school-wide motivational program that encourages students to walk/run for fun. It will be starting at lunch recess on Tuesday, April 30th for 4 weeks, every Tuesday and Thursday until May 30th. For each mile students complete, they will be given a token! These toe tokens can be used in exchange for popcorn on popcorn Fridays or they can keep them as treasures. For more information or to volunteer please click on the link https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080b44acaf2aa1fb6-mileage. Younger siblings are most definitely welcome to accompany you. On your day to volunteer, simply sign in at the office and join us on the playground outside the second grade doors.
Please encourage your first through fourth grader to participate in this fun and beneficial activity. If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Quinn at quinn.jen@gmail.com
Thank you!!

News From the Nurse
It is that time of the year when kids are outside a lot more and so are ticks! Please be sure to check your children thoroughly for ticks on their clothing and skin after playing outdoors. Common places for ticks to nestle include: under the arms, in and around the ears, inside the belly button, back of the knees, in and around hair, between the legs and around the waist. If a tick is found, remove it as soon as possible. For detailed information about tick removal, see www.cdc.gov/ticks/removing_a_tick.html. If your child develops a rash or a fever within several weeks of being bit by a tick, seek medical attention.
