The Middle Colonies
New York:
New York was founded in 1626 by Peter Minuit. It was founded for furs and trade by the Dutch. The summers were humid and the winters were long and cold. The soil was fertile, the there were a lot of trees and many water resources.
New Jersey
New Jersey was founded by Lord Berkley by 1660 for farming and trade. New Jersey is bordered by the Atlantic ocean, Pennsylvania, Delaware Bay, and New York. In New Jersey, there are two main rivers called the Delaware River and the Hudson River. Also in New Jersey, there are four main regions which are the Atlantic Coastal Plain, Piedmont, the New England Upload, Appalachian ridge and valley.
Delaware
Delaware was founded by Peter Minuet in 1638 for the trade and profits. The monthly temperature for the Delaware is a high of 85.6 degrees and a low of 23.2 degrees. The two regions of Delaware are the Atlantic Coastal Plain and the Piedmont region. The Delaware's total area is 2,489 square miles.
Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania was founded by William Penn in 1682 fro religious freedom for the Quakers. Out of 46,058 square miles, 44,820 square miles are land while 1,239 square miles are water. The monthly temperature average is 86.2 degrees and a low of 18 degrees. The highest point in Pennsylvania is on the Mt. Davis standing at 3,213 feet, while the lowest point is at sea level.
The roles of religious development
During this time in the Middle colonies, the religions were all mixed. The religions included Quakers, Catholics, Lutherans, Jews and more.
