NATIONAL POETRY MONTH AND LIBRARY WEEK
April is National Poetry Month AND National Library Week (April 16 th – 20 th )
Best month EVER!!
We will celebrate the various ways our library helps transform students by…
…holding a bookmark design contest!
…estimating how many book erasers are in the library estimation jar (because reading ROCKS!!)
…running a Get Caught Reading promotion!
…writing one final round of poetry to fill our Poet Tree!
During the week of April 16th – 20th Hughston will participate in a school-wide initiative called Poem In My Pocket . We are asking each student and staff member to choose (or write) a poem that they enjoy. It might be a funny one or one that is special to them for another reason. We are suggesting everyone type or write out their poem on a slip of paper, fold it up, and put it in their pocket before coming to school. There will be different times during the day for students and staff to pull out their poems and share with each other. What a fun way for everyone to experience poetry together!
Thanks so much for your support! If you have any questions please check the library website at www.tinyurl.com/hughstonlibrary .

The Office of Student Administrative Services has an online numbering system for elementary transfer requests to reduce the need for long lines on the April 16th transfer request day.
Beginning April 9 at 6:30 AM, parents must log onto the Plano ISD website at https://www.pisd.edu/transfer to receive a number that will hold a place in line for requesting a transfer for the 2018-2019 school year. Online access will end April 12 at 5:00 PM.
Transfer day will be Monday, April 16, with doors opening at 7:45 AM at the Plano ISD Administration Building on 2700 W. 15th Street.
For more information regarding the Intra-District transfer process, please link to https://www.pisd.edu/pisdtransfer
