November Storyline - Called and Blessed (Abram)
In November we are focusing on how Abram and Sarai were called and blessed by God. Out of gratitude for what God has done for us, we also are called to be a blessing to those around us. Our Scripture passage for November is Genesis 18:1-19a. At our storyline chapel, our 7th/8th grade drama group presented the passage in a way that brought God's Word to life in a fresh way. Pastor Pitsenberger reminded us that in order to be a blessing to those around us we also need to make sure we are spending time drawing closer to Jesus in worship and in prayer. Click on the videos below to watch the November storyline chapel and listen to the storyline song for November. Click on the photos to see a larger version of the picture.

November Connection Groups
In our November connection groups, students will be reviewing the story of Abram and Sarai, and then participating in a type of prayer developed by Sybil MacBeth called "Praying in Color." I learned about this at a session at the Heartland Convention in October. I would encourage you to take a look at this website and learn more about this form of prayer. Both the website and and a description of the practice are listed below.
The Biggest Story: Chapter 3
Below is the video about Abram that the students will be watching at the beginning of the November connection group. This is a continuation of the videos from last month which are based on the book The Biggest Story by Kevin DeYoung.

Tech-Wise Family book study
It's not too late! Join us in the SCCS orchestra room on November 12, December 10 and January 14th at 7pm for a book discussion of The Tech-Wise Family by Andy Crouch. All are invited and childcare will be provided. Attached below are the "10 Tech-Wise Commitments" that Crouch challenges all of us to consider implementing in our homes. Please considering joining other SCCS parents to discuss this important topic.
New Faith Formation Parent Resource Based on the Building Blocks of Faith
What faith practices shape your life and the lives of the people who share your home? βItβs easy for us to think that we create our habits, but our habits also create us. The faith-forming things that we do together deeply affect the way we think and act. Because of this, consistently committing to your faith practices as a family has a significant impact.β β This quote is from Dear Parent: A Guide for Family Faith Formation, by Laura Keeley and Robert J. Keeley. I highly recommend this new parenting resource based on the four building blocks of faith. I also have several copies that you can borrow....just let me know!
