News & Updates
Hello CELC Families,
I hope you all had a great weekend. Go Padres! What an amazing game on Saturday! Staff and students may join the San Diego spirit on Tuesday by wearing a Padres shirt. Our first Spirit Assembly was Friday. We celebrated excellence in academics and citizenship. Students received a certificate for a free breakfast at Broken Yolk in Santee. Thank you to Broken Yolk for your generous donation to our school.
Have you seen the progress on the fencing around the preschool playground? We are raising the height to 7 ft. The work will continue to the front and the side of the school. Other safety projects are being worked on as well. We are thankful for these updates.
Mrs. Nash's class enjoyed a day at Oma's last week. The students enjoyed the pumpkin patch, a tour of the farm, and some playtime. The dual language kindergarteners are looking forward to their big field trip to Sherman Heights on Friday!
Brag tags for mastering the first 5 sight words in November. Help your student meet this goal at home by studying the words. See the words below. There will be opportunities to earn brag tags for other academic milestones, citizenship, and attendance throughout the school year.
Each week, our Cubs study a new color word. This week is white. Lessons and activities around the color white will happen throughout the week. This Thursday, students are encouraged to wear white to school.
Here is a list of the latest updates and news to keep you informed:
- A HUGE thank you to Mrs. Vickery and Mrs. Mathey for putting together CELC's and MVLA's emergency buckets. We really appreciated your help!
- Thank you to everyone you joined PTA. We are also super excited about the business donations.
- Parent conferences are coming soon. Mark your calendars for the week of November 14th. Students will be excused at 12:15 pm all week in order for teachers to meet with parents.
- AUSD schools are participating in the Great Shake Out Earthquake drill on 10/20/22. For more information on one of the biggest, organized emergency drills, go to https://www.shakeout.org/index.html.
- Creekside's biggest fundraiser is coming soon! The PTA will be looking for help to plan, organize, and supervise the Turkey Trot. Students will "trot" on Friday, November 18th.
- Please send your student to school each day with a backpack, refillable water bottle, a healthy snack, and a lunch (unless they are getting a cafeteria lunch).
Please report any absences to your child's teacher and the office. We still are required to follow COVID protocols for illnesses. Please let the office know the reason your child is out and what symptoms they have.
We LOVE volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity, please pick up the required paperwork in the office. All volunteers must be free of COVID-19 The office needs a copy of your CDL, and TB results to process the application.
Before and after school care is available. Please contact our ESS Coordinator, Natalija Worrell, if you have any questions at nworrell@alpineschools.net
For transportation questions and concerns, please visit AUSD's website at https://www.alpineschools.net/page/transportation or call the GUHSD Transportation Department.

AUSD 2022-23 LCAP GOALS
The Governor's budget for education mandated that every school district in California needs to update its Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). The Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) is a component of the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). The LCAP is intended to be a three-year plan to improve student achievement by setting annual goals for the district in eight priority areas. Each of the priorities has established data requirements to track district progress improving student achievement. The LCAP requires Districts to gather input from students, teachers, parents, and community members to determine the goals, actions, and budget priorities for the District. Our District staff worked together with all of our stakeholder groups to gather input and craft the draft of our Local Control Accountability Plan. Here are AUSD's 2022-23 LCAP Goals:
Goal #1: Effective Instruction and Curriculum - Provide equitable access to high-quality classroom curriculum and instruction in an inclusive environment that promotes student success.
Goal #2: Safe and Respectful Environments - Ensure all school sites are safe and have healthy and welcoming climates for staff, students, and their families so that all students feel connected and are motivated to attend and ready to learn.
Goal #3: Equitable and Culturally Responsible Systems - Ensure systems and processes eliminate barriers to student success and are equitable and culturally responsive to the needs of our students and their families.
