2015 Summer School
The goal of College Decision Day is to recognize high school seniors for their postsecondary educational plans and encourage younger students and families to prepare early for postsecondary education. Avondale Academy will hold a celebration to honor each senior who has a plan after high school. Whether your plans are a certificate program, trade school, 2 year or 4 year university.

College Survival Guide
At Wells Fargo we are always looking for ways to help your students and parents navigate the college process and provide them with information that will make it all seem a little easier. We know that parents can be overwhelmed trying to help their children find the right school and make it all work so we have sponsored a college guide that will help them do just that. Check out this Wells Fargo Sponsored College Survival Guide!
IT'S NOT TOO LATE!
There are many types of financial aid such as grants, scholarships, work study, and student loans. You will never know exactly how much aid you will qualify until you complete the FAFSA. Please remember that the FAFSA is FREE!!! Never pay to complete your FAFSA and make sure you visit the correct site: www.fafsa.gov.
One new thing you will come across when you update or complete your FAFSA is the new FSA ID. FAFSA is doing away with the PIN and moving to the FSA ID. If you already created your FAFSA PIN, I highly suggest you link it to your FSA ID. When you login to www.fafsa.gov it will prompt you to create an FSA ID. It is important that you go through this process. Please let me know if you have any questions, I can help walk you through it.
Goodbye Federal PIN, Hello Student Aid ID
Anyone who's completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid is familiar with the Federal Personal Identification Number (PIN), the four-digit number used by a student and parent to electronically sign the FAFSA each year. As of May 10, 2015, the PIN is defunct.
The new Federal Student Aid ID will be replacing the PIN in an effort to better protect the personal information of all FSA system users. The FSA ID will consist of a username and password selected by the individual. Current users with a PIN can expedite the process of obtaining an FSA ID by linking it with their PIN. This will reduce the amount of personal information that must be entered to complete the set-up process.
Individuals visiting an FSA website with a PIN are now directed to a website to create an FSA ID before proceeding further. Anyone with questions about the FSA ID can contact the Federal Student Aid customer service line at 800-4-FED-AID (800-433-3243).
This June, Khan Academy will be launching their SAT Preparation Site for students. Students will be able to register for an account to track their progress throughout high school. The site will include guided practice based on individual needs and practice tests for the SAT.
Next years juniors will be taking the SAT as Michigan has signed a contract with College Board for the SAT to be our state college admissions test. Juniors will take the SAT for free as part of the Michigan Merit Examination. Avondale Academy plans to offer the PSAT/NMSQT in the Fall and the SAT will be in the Spring. Please let us know if you have any questions.
