About Montevideo
Montevideo is located in the southeast costal region of Uruguay, South America. The population is about 1.3 million. The city was founded by Bruno Mauricio de Zabla (Governer of Buenos Aires) in 1726 by the Spanish as a military base that was occupied by the British, Spanish, Argentinian, Portuguese, and Brazilian forces. Before this Montevideo was originally inhabited by the Charau indians. The native languages in Montevideo are Uruguayan Spanish, Cocoliche, English, Portuguese, and Portuno.
