NO SCHOOL ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 19th

It's Been a Great Week at Hoover!
MID-TERM PROGRESS - GRADES
If you haven't recently, please be sure to check Power School to see your child's progress so far this grading period. We are half-way through the second grading period. If you have questions or concerns about your child's progress, please contact your child's teacher. Remember that starting with this second report card, the elementary schools will no longer be sending home paper report cards with every student. You will be able to print out grades from Power School if you need a paper copy. https://powerschool.cville.k12.in.us/public/
STUDENTS NEED TO WEAR COATS AND GLOVES EVERYDAY!
All students need to be prepared to dress for outdoor recess and walking on the track in the morning everyday. Students are not permitted to stay inside during recess unless the school receives documentation from a physician that they should stay inside.
SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS NEEDED!
Do you love kids? Are you looking for a fun job with a flexible schedule? Be a substitute teacher! Go to https://www.cville.k12.in.us/Page/363 and check out the qualifications.
Notes from the Nurse
More than 34 million Americans still smoke cigarettes. It remains the single largest preventable cause of death and illness in the world (courtesy of cancer.org). Quitting isn’t easy and it takes time. You don’t have to stop smoking in one day, but start with day one. The Great American Smokeout event can be your day to start a journey towards a smoke-free life. Join thousands of people across the country next Thursday, November 21st, and take an important step toward a healthier life and reduce your risk of cancer. The American Cancer Society has hosted the Great American Smokeout for more than 40 years. It encourages people to use the date to make a plan to quit, or plan and initiate a smoking cessation plan on the day of the event. You can increase your chances of success with help. The American Cancer Society offers information about the steps you can take to quit smoking, as well as programs, resources, and support. To learn more you can call 1-800-227-2345, or visit cancer.org for more information.
