25 Years of Growing Together in Faith & Knowledge
Dear SFCS Parents & Friends,
It was a wonderful morning today with our 3rd Annual FSA Reindeer Run! The weather was beautiful and there was an awesome turnout. Thank you to Megan Drescher, Julie Pavlick and all the parent volunteers! Also thank you to the Salty Dog Cafe for sponsoring the event and providing a very delicious breakfast!
This week will be our final week together at SFCS before Christmas Recess! In our third week of Advent together the students will be busy preparing for the Advent Concert with Mrs. Sweeney. The concert will be Thursday, December 16th at 6:00pm. The concert will begin right at 6:00pm so please arrive a few minutes early so everyone is prepared for a wonderful show. It will be in the gym. In acknowledgement of the sensitivity of the times we will not be gathering the students before the concert and processing in from the middle school hallway. All students will be sitting with their families this year in the audience. When it is time for your child(ren)'s class to perform Mrs. Sweeney or Mrs. MacDonald will call them up to the stage. We ask that all students sit with their families during the concert. This includes the middle schools students. We do not want large groups of students sitting together without a parent during the concert. Masks will be optional for attendees during the concert and students will not be wearing masks while they perform. If you are uncomfortable with any of the above and do not want to have your child participate, then we ask that you email Mrs. McVey at the front office at Theresa.McVey@sfcshhi.com so Mrs. Sweeney can prepare with the children accordingly. We are looking forward to bringing the concert back this year after not being able to have it last year.
The morning after the Advent Concert on Friday, December 17th is the FSA's Breakfast with Santa. This will be the last day before break for Christmas Recess. Students are allowed to wear a Christmas shirt and socks with their uniform pants, skirt, skort or shorts.
I wish everyone a joyful 3rd Gaudete Sunday of Advent rejoicing in the anticipation of the birth of Jesus and his return. Prayers and intentions for all of our brothers and sisters that our suffering right now from the devastating tornadoes that occurred across Arkansas and Kentucky last night!
Sincerely in Christ,
Brian Pope

SFCS Basketball teams had a busy week…All (4) school teams each played a couple of games. The Senior Girls were 1-1, and the Senior Boys went 2-0 against Heritage Academy and Cross School. The Junior teams took to the road this week and the young teams fared well against older competition. The Junior Girls were 1-1 and the Junior Boys went 0-2 against Holy Trinity and Colleton Prep. Great job by all of our hoopsters!
Searching for Boys’ and Girls’ Head Soccer Coaches for the spring…the soccer season is only March and April. Without a field here on campus, practices are on Chaplin Park. It’s a lot of fun getting back outside with the kids after the cold winter months! Please email me at mweaver@sfcshhi.com if you are interested.

Moss Creek Equestrian Center would like to thank you for your support. We will be hosting two schools for the spring session: St. Francis and Heritage Academy. Our program’s goal is to share the love of horses, learn how to care for the animal as well as riding. At the end of the session we will host a friendly interscholastic competition. The co-ed team is open to students from each school 1st through 8th grade. The riding team will be an eight-week course meeting once a week (Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday afternoons). At the end of the eight weeks, we will have a horse show for all the participants to compete as individuals and as a school.
The classes will be held starting:
February 15th Tuesday 4:30pm - Heritage Academy Beginners
February 18th Friday 3:30pm - St. Francis and Heritage Academy Intermediate / Advanced Combined
February 18th Friday 4:30pm - St. Francis Beginners
February 20th Sunday 3:30pm- St. Francis Beginners
February 20th Sunday 4:30pm - Heritage Academy Beginners
No experience necessary! We supply helmets, and we ask that all riders wear shoes with a heel (boots preferred) and long pants. This will be a fun experience for all!

JPII Girl Power Robotics Team Takes Home Championship
In November, the three John Paul II Catholic School SHIELD IQ Robotics teams, consisting of all 7th graders, competed in their first tournament at River Ridge Academy in Bluffton. Team 61317M, better known as the JPII Girl Power team, took the top spot as Tournament Champions.
At the end of the qualifying matches, all three teams were ranked in the top 10 moving into the finals - 61417W (2nd place), 61317M (4th place), 61317S (7th place). During the finals, team 61317S scored 18 points and then team 61317M put up an impressive 34 points. Team 61317W was the last to make a run and came up just short with 30 points.
"I am so impressed with these young teams," commented JPII Project Led the Way teacher and robotics moderator Cadra Rooney. "They have been working hard to develop robots to play this year’s game and their spirit and excitement at the tournament was awesome. They definitely made their mark as a rising robotics program among our local schools!"
