Weekly Update

Week of November 15-19

Good afternoon.

Our year seems to be flying by. With the upcoming holidays and no school days we know that the time will go even faster. We only have 20 school days left in 2021!!! WHAT! So crazy.

An update to the schedule is that BOTH December 3 and 6th (a Friday and Monday) there will be no school for students. The school board has approved an additional work day to support our teachers with the increasing workload they have encountered this year. We know losing a day of instruction seems counter intuitive but we are focusing on quality over quantity. This extra day will give teachers time to plan and reflect on the first trimester and give time to make adjustments to curriculum and pacing for the upcoming second trimester.

Thank you to all our families for getting the kiddos here on time. We have noticed a huge improvement and want to thank the adults at home that are putting in the work in the wee hours of the morning to wake your kiddos up and get them moving! We know that is not an easy feat!

On Mondays, students should be in their seats and ready to learn by 8:35 a.m. Drop off time is between 8:15 - 8:30 a.m.

On Tuesdays - Fridays, students should be in their seats and ready to learn by 7:35 a.m. Drop off time is between 7:15 - 7:30 a.m. Keep up the great work.

RECESS READY

We live in the Pacific Northwest. Students will go outside for recess, no matter the weather. They have about 35 minutes total during the day. Please ensure that they are dressed appropriately. Rubber and waterproof rain coats are better than hoodies. If students wear a cotton hoodie outside and get wet they then end up sitting in their wet clothes all day. If your child needs a rain jacket please let us know and we can help out! Also, it is getting cold. Hats and gloves/mittens are nice when it gets cold. Again, if your child needs any of these let us know. We can help! We do not have a daily indoor recess option for students. We will only have indoor recess when it is unsafe to be outside (ice, extreme winds & rain, freezing temperatures that could cause frost bite).
