Have an Amazing Weekend!
Dear Kennebunk High School Families:
I hope that you all had a fantastic week. Today marks the last of our 4 day weeks to begin the school year. Next week we are back to 5 days. The students are settling into a routine and we've really liked how well they've taken to some adjustments in how we do things. I hope the energy and excitement of all at KHS continues.
Picture Day:
Picture day is Tuesday. Advisors handed out forms to your students this week. You can use the form or order online (mylifetouch.com) with the picture day ID (EVT96P7PR). To order or pay after picture day - you will need to find your Portrait ID and Access Code which is unique to each student. These will be on your proofs or order sheet.
Student Planners:
Student planners came in this week (they were delayed a bit) and handed out as well. All students should have both of these at this point. Picture retakes will be October 26th.
Safety Protocols:
This week we started practicing our safety protocols. Students may have come home and told you that we had a couple of fire drills and a lockdown drill recently. It is important for the school to prepare in the event that there is a situation which results in us needing to use our safety procedures. If we ever have to evacuate, lockdown, hold in place, or any other type of protocol you will receive notification from my office as to what took place.
Financial Aid:
Please click on the KHS Daily Bulletin button above. There is information with regard to applying for financial aid that will be important for all Seniors.
Reminders:
Note: We understand that Fletcher Street is very busy in the morning. Our in lot procedures are being evaluated daily with the SRO and we like how things are going at this point.
School begins at 7:45 AM
Please use the Fletcher Street parking lot when dropping off in the morning. Please use both lanes for drop off.
School ends at 2:11 PM
Please use the Fletcher Street parking lot when picking up your student in the afternoon. Please make sure that you pull into the parking lot so that buses can easily enter and go to the back of the school. We ask that you pull all the way in to the lot - park or use both lanes.
NOTE: This lot is now ONE WAY. The entrance will be by the main Kennebunk High School sign.
Each Wednesday is a Late Start so that staff can have some time for professional development. Classes start promptly at 9:00 AM. Please plan ahead for additional traffic to the high school at this time of day.
Twitter:
Twitter is something that I have tended to use throughout my career. If you would like to follow for updates please go to @principalkhs. Additionally, each week families will receive a newsletter from KHS to your email inboxes (typically by 3 PM on Friday). The newsletter that is featured is from the website Smore. Be on the lookout!
PowerSchool Updating:
Many families currently have not re-registered in PowerSchool. Please check your email (a few notices have gone out at this point). It's important that permissions, addresses, phone numbers, etc are all accurate.
Cell Phone Service
Cell phone service (at least in the 2+ years that I have been here) has been spotty. It's not uncommon to have 0-2 bars of service. We do not have anything setup at the high school that would be able to block cell service and we have no plans of doing so. We have a device policy that we follow and nowhere in that policy does it say we will block cell service.
School WiFi at times may be slow for students and staff. As I understand it, WiFi in the building gives priority to district level devices first - which are registered on the network. Those who are on a device that is not a district device may experience slower service and lag times.

Why did you choose to come to Kennebunk High School?
The school not only has high academic standards for its students, but also fosters an environment for students to grow in their character as a whole person. I am beyond excited to be working with high school students, who are at a stage in their life where they are defining who they are as well as what is most important to them as they enter young adulthood.
What excites you most about being at Kennebunk High School?
- I am excited to dive deeper into the French language and facilitate a learning environment for students to move up in their proficiency. I am also excited to get to know these young adults and what motivates them not only in French, but in academics and in life outside of the classroom.

Visiting Colleges & Universities
In order to attend, you must sign-up through Naviance and also talk with your teacher about missing some of your academic class on the day of the visit(you will need a pass from them to attend). Most teachers will be flexible if it is discussed in advance but you may not be able to attend due to a test or other special circumstances. No worries, if you let guidance know you are interested in the school but can't attend the information session, we are happy to collect materials from the meeting and pass along contact information for the representative. Believe it or not, colleges keep track of how many times you connect with the college either through a college fair, campus visit or school information session, so use this opportunity to your benefit. It displays your interest in the college and could impact your admission decision.
A few of the visits are actually virtual and you will still need to sign-up for these meetings through Naviance. If you are in school at the time and will need a place to take part in the meeting, let the guidance office know in advance and we will do what we can to find you a place to sit while the meeting is in session.
Below is the current list of schools scheduled to visit but the list is constantly changing and if you don't see the name of a school you are interested in, please stop by guidance and let us know.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
