What's up in the Community Classroom?
October 12 - October 21, 2015
Farm Fun!
For the next two weeks we will be learning about the farm. We will identify many animals, the sounds they make, their similarities and differences, and talk about their roles on the farm. We will talk about the different foods we get from the farm. We will focus on spatial and quantity concepts, while continuing to work on social interaction skills, language skills, self-help skills, and fine motor skills. And, of course, we will have a blast at the farm!

Farm Field Trip
Our field trip to Smith Family Farm in Pendleton is this week! The AM classes will go on Monday, October 12. There will be NO PM classes that day. The PM classes will be going on Wednesday, October 14, in the MORNING. There will be no AM classes that day. At the farm we will see lots of animals, go on a hay ride, go through the corn maze, play on the farm playground, and pick a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch! We will also be eating lunch at the farm before returning to school. You will need to pack a disposable sack lunch for your child to bring. Please watch the weather forecast for the day your child is attending the field trip and dress him/her accordingly. Also, your child may get a little dirty at the farm, so please send them in clothes and shoes that can get dirty. Don't forget...if you have signed up as a volunteer for the trip, you will be responsible for your child so that Ms. Tonia and I can be responsible for those children whose parents could not attend.
Picture Retake Day
If your child was absent for picture day, or if you do not like your child's original picture, picture retake day is scheduled for Wednesday, October 20. If you want your child's picture retaken, you must return the original package, with all the uncut pictures inside. If you were not here for picture day, you may go online to order at www.inter-state.com with the order code 03713H. We also have order forms at school. If you want one, please let me know. On a side note, if you ordered a class picture, they will arrive at a later date. They photographers wait until all the children have been photographed before compiling the class picture.

HSE Illness Policy
If your child has had a fever, has vomited, or has had diarrhea, he/she must be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school. With a fever, your child must be fever free without the use of fever-reducing medication for 24 hours before returning to school. I know this is sometimes frustrating, because you do not want your child to miss school. We don't want your child to miss school, either. However, we do not want to spread illness throughout the class. Thanks so much for your understanding.
Reminders
- If your child will not be riding the bus, please contact transportation prior to school to let them know at 594-4117.

- If you have not already sent in an extra change of clothes for your child, please do so as soon as possible.
- We go outside every day, if the weather permits. Please make sure to dress your child appropriately for the weather.
