No Excuses University @ Bear Creek

At Bear Creek, we are proud to be a member of the No Excuses University Network. As a No Excuses School we believe that every student has a right to be educated in a way that prepares them for college. We discuss goals, have college conversations, and end our announcements each day with the phrase "After high school comes college"!

Wear BLUE on Monday, October 7th!

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, also known as STOMP Out Bullying! Monday, October 7th is #BlueUp. The goal of #BlueUp is to encourage schools, communities, and organizations to work together to stop bullying and cyberbullying and put an end to hatred and discrimination by increasing awareness of the prevalence and impact of all forms of bullying on all children of all ages.

PTA Reflections Contest has Begun!

The PTA Reflections contest has begun district wide, and BCE PTA needs parents to help out! Reflections has been a staple arts program in many schools for over 50 years. Through the efforts of our Local PTAs, millions of students have found a creative outlet in the areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts.

With positive recognition as the focus of this program, rather than competition, students of all ages and abilities can experience the benefits of creative expression and help in finding their own voice in telling their unique story.

If you are interested in further involvement with the Reflections program at Bear Creek, please contact Mimi, BCE PTA President, at genevavidal@yahoo.com!

Reading Tip

Teach your child some “mind tricks.”- Show your child how to summarize a story in a few sentences or how to make predictions about what might happen next. Both strategies help a child comprehend and remember.
