Wow ... what a year it has been for the Brickies! We had two NCC CHAMPION teams ... Boys Soccer (1st title in 20 years) & Wrestling (8th title in a row) ... a diver (senior Ethan Ferba) and four wrestlers (freshmen Seth Aubin & Aidan Costello) at the state finals in the winter - TWWWOOOOOOOOOO came home with All-State Medals (seniors Jake Simpson & Trevor Schammert), and to finish the year off in style, H-town had 2 tracksters (juniors Gavin Miller & Cody Johnston) competing in Bloomington at Indiana University ... and 1 brought home a BLUE RIBBON (Johnston earns a state title in the pole vault)!!!

As the sun sets on the 2021-2022 sports season, some moderate reflection reveals that it was quite a JOURNEY! THANK YOU to all of our coaches, booster club members, parents, administration, custodial/grounds crew, workers, fans and most importantly the student-athletes for putting in so much WORK WORK WORK to be excellent on purpose and provide this blue-collar town with a memorable year!! IT WAS AWESOME!!

Indiana All-Star

On Wednesday night, Lady Brickie junior Asia Donald participated as an INDIANA JUNIOR ALL-STAR at Mount Vernon-Fortville High School as the juniors took on the seniors in their final tune-up before playing Kentucky on Saturday. As you may recall, Asia BROKE THE SCHOOL RECORD for career points back in January and was one of the top scorers in all of Indiana for the year.

Against the senior Indiana All-Star team, which included Jessica Carrothers & Lilly Stoddard from Crown Point, Donald picked up right where she left off for Hobart! Asia scored 7 1st quarter points ... 7 more in the 2nd quarter ... and 6 in the 3rd as the junior team held a slim lead at 71-70!! In the end, the seniors prevailed 89-86, but Donald LED ALL SCORERS on the night with 20 points!!! INCREDIBLE!!!

Asia played extremely well and represented the Lady Brickies with class!

CONGRATULATIONS ASIA!! WE ARE VERY PROUD OF YOU!!

Boys Golf REGIONAL

Brickie senior Ethan Cover has the distinct honor of being the FINAL Hobart competitor of the 2021-2022 school year! On Thursday, Ethan was a competitor in the IHSAA REGIONAL for boys golf held at Sandy Pines Golf Club. Cover qualified as an individual for the regional thanks to a PHENOMENAL round of 91 at last week's sectional!!

On a beautiful day down near DeMotte, the team from Westfield High School took home the regional crown, beating Guerin Catholic by a stroke for the title. Ethan fought hard through the difficult course and ended up with a 103, which put him #14 out of 18 individual qualifiers. Alas, it was not enough to advance 1 more weekend, but still a GREAT way to close out his high school career ... a 4-time letter-winner in both Golf and Tennis!!

GREAT JOB ETHAN!! WE ARE SO VERY PROUD OF ALL YOU ACCOMPLISHED @ HHS!!!

Parade of a CHAMPION

On Thursday afternoon, the SCOH and City of Hobart got to partner together to CELEBRATE Brickie junior vaulter ... and 2022 IHSAA STATE CHAMPION ... Cody Johnston! After a parade through town from the high school to Festival Park, Cody stuck around to sign autographs at the Hobart Summer Market on the Lake and get some special recognition before Geddy Trezak rocked the band shell!

It was truly a GREAT NIGHT TO BE A BRICKIE!

Cody is headed to the University of Oregon next week to compete in both the Nike Outdoor Nationals and the USATF U20 Outdoor Championships where he could earn a spot on TEAM USA that will compete in the World Athletics U20 Championships held in Cali, Colombia in early August!! GOOD LUCK CODY!!!
