Weekly Updates from Big Walnut High School
September 14, 2018
BWHS hosted its third annual Evening of Excellence this past Wednesday, celebrating the accomplishments of students from the 2017-2018 academic school year. We have just completed our 5th week of school which means our first round of parent-teacher conferences is right around the corner. All teachers will be available to meet with parents on Wednesday, September 26, from 4:00-7:30pm. Please call the main office to schedule one or more conferences with your child's teacher(s).
Please remember there is no school for students on Monday as our staff will be engaged in professional development activities.
As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teachers, school counselor or the administration if you have any questions or concerns. Feel free to contact the main office at 740-965-3766 between the hours of 7:00 and 3:15.

Updates from the School Counseling Office
DACC Visit:
All sophomore students heard a presentation from the Delaware Area Career Center during their American History class on Friday. The DACC shared course offerings and opportunities for students in advance of the students' visit to the Career Center later this fall. Most of the programs offered at DACC are for juniors and seniors, so this opportunity serves to expose our students to the options available for them next year.
Senior One-on-One Meetings:
Our school counselors are continuing to meet with each senior, individually, to complete credit checks for graduation as well as to discuss future plans. These meetings will continue through the end of the month. If your senior has not done so already, please have them sign up in the school counseling office.
Pre-ACT for Sophomores:
All 10th grade students will take the pre-ACT, this Wednesday, September 19. Students do not need to register for this and there is no fee for this test. The Pre-ACT is designed to prepare students for the ACT they will take as juniors.
Graduation Points Available on PowerSchool:
For parents and students, PowerSchool allows you to view your graduation points. Using a desktop computer or Chromebook (not the PowerSchool App), search under the tab labelled "Graduation Pathways". If you have any questions or difficulty with this, please contact the School Counseling Office.
