HOLY ROSARY SCHOOL
NEWSLETTER | TERM 1 | WEEK 5 | 3 MARCH 2023

Last week and this week we began our first pre-writing pattern, “sideways, sideways, left to right.”

Hi Everyone
I don’t know about you but we loved the Sundowner! Lots of great food and great company - just fabulous! Big thank you to Rose and her P&F crew who made it a reality. It just seems like such a long time since something like this was able to be organised for the big people in our community. Nice work.
Have a great weekend. See you on Wednesday!

Holy Rosary Swimming Carnival 2023 Year 3 - 6 HBF Stadium Friday March 24
Selections
This week the students were asked to complete their selections for the carnival, and these have been posted on seesaw. Can I ask all parents to look carefully at these selections and make any changes by emailing, admin@hrs.wa.edu.au I will then make the changes for you and write up and publish the program. Once that is complete I will not be able to alter selections.
Format of the carnival
In Year 3 students participate in 25m freestyle, 25m breaststroke and 25m backstroke and are not involved with interschool swimming. They start their races at the shallow end of HBF stadium and swim to a noodle rope in the middle of the pool. Students may start off the blocks, they can also start standing next to the blocks if they feel more comfortable.
Years 4-6 can choose between 25m, 50m and 100m races. The championship events and interschool qualifiers are the 50m freestyle, 50m breaststroke and 50m backstroke. The two open events 50m butterfly and 100m freestyle which are not champion events but are interschool qualifiers.
If your child can not swim and you do not want them to swim please email me through admin and let me know.
Parent Helpers
I would like to thank all of the parents that have offered to help. I would still love some more timers for the carnival. If you can help, please email, admin@hrs.wa.edu.au I promise you it is the best view at the stadium. lol
We look forward to a wonderful day together!
Permission for this event is assumed if for some reason you do not want your child to attend, please email the school and inform us as soon as possible.

Happy birthday to Dr Seuss! His books have so many great messages for all ages and we especially love “The Lorax” which is so relevant in regards to looking after our world and standing up for those who can not. The Junior Chess Tournament starts next week, Thursday 9th March. Year 1, 2 and 3 students who have signed up need to be ready to play and check the library whiteboard each week for their name. Year 5 Book Club will be starting soon, students can sign up on the whiteboard. Australian Reading Hour is next Thursday – we hope you can join us as we sit, relax and read!
