Unit 11- Word Problems
During this unit we really want you to focus on word problems for addition and subtraction. This includes one-step and multi-step word problems. Specifically focusing in on multi-step word problems. This includes not just adding/subtracting both steps, but also mixing up the steps. It would also be beneficial to do more than just two step problems. This is also a good opportunity to really work with your students that are still struggling with the traditional algorithm. If they are still struggling with this I highly recommend going back to the manipulatives and go back the the concrete-representational-abstract progression.
Solving Multi-Step Word Problems like a Boss
This is a good example of gradual release of responsibility through the multi-step word problem solving process. This is with multiplication and division but could use the idea for addition and subtraction.
Go back to manipulatives to teach regrouping for those who still don't understand the algorithm!

Greg Tang Math Greatness
Greg Tang has so many amazing resources available for free on his website. The games are awesome support and mathematically sound. There are intervention pages for math facts and strategies. He even has his books on it! Take some time to look at it!
Something to think about...
"A lack of fact fluency can be crippling for emerging mathematicians. Students who don’t understand number relationships struggle to use mathematics to solve problems, because they are using all of their mental energy on basic facts. A strategy based approach for learning facts leads to automaticity while at the same time it helps students understand how numbers are related. But instruction needs to go hand-in-hand with practice to build speed and fluency." -Donna Boucher
