IUSD's New Covid-19 Dashboard

Earlier today, the District sent the following communication to the IUSD community about the District’s new COVID-19 Dashboard, which will be a helpful tool for our families and staff. In addition to the dashboard, we will also communicate directly with our community about confirmed cases.

In the event there is a confirmed case on our campus, affected individuals will be contacted directly by me or by school staff. They will receive a letter that may include self-isolation directions and other important information. Families of students who are not affected will not receive an exposure notification and no action will be required. I will also send a message directly to our school community to help keep you informed. You can also view information about our school on the dashboard at iusd.org/dashboard.

It is going to take a concerted effort to keep our students, staff and families safe. In addition to health and safety measures taken on our campus, we encourage families to reinforce the importance of hand-washing, physical distancing and face coverings to limit the spread of the coronavirus. Also, if a member of your household tests positive for COVID-19 or is awaiting test results, please keep your child at home and notify our office. If your child has any symptoms associated with the coronavirus, make sure they stay home and get tested if necessary.

The health and safety of our students, staff and families is our top priority. We are committed to continuously improving our process, including notifications, and we thank you for your partnership. Together, we can limit the spread of COVID-19.

From the District:

Dear IUSD Community,

The Irvine Unified School District is committed to providing accurate and transparent information regarding COVID-19 cases on our campuses, while also maintaining privacy and confidentiality for our students and staff. To this end, the District has created a COVID-19 dashboard reflecting confirmed positive cases among District students and staff on our campuses (in-person instruction only). Data will be updated every day at 5 p.m.

The Dashboard also provides information about IUSD’s communication process, parent reporting requirements, information about how families and students can limit the spread of COVID-19 and links to resources. To access the dashboard, visit iusd.org/dashboard.

In addition to updated information on the dashboard, principals or school staff will also communicate new cases directly to their communities. Please note that our District will only communicate and provide data for confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Sincerely,

IUSD Communications

New Members of School SIte Council

We're excited to introduce our newest parent members of our Loma Ridge School Site Council. Please read below for a little introduction of each new member.

Scindia Dhanasekaran

About me, I am Scindia Dhanasekaran, my Son is in 5th grade and I have volunteered extensively in my son's schools working with principals, teachers, and parents, and the community to provide diversified opportunity and support to all students. In the past, I have served in PTA (Co-Chair of reflection and member of Jog-a-thon committee), classroom parent, and coach for the First Lego League team. I have a dual degree in Computer science and electronics & communication engineering, with 15 years’ experience as a technology leader (VP) and cofounder of an AI-based language learning app. I am an active member of Women in Technology and various STEM, AI, and Machine language technology groups. Finding ways to encourage kids to do STEM and ways to incorporate arts with STEM is a passion of mine. I bring my experience, education, and passion for this volunteer position. I look forward to being part of our journey ahead.

Larry Hsia

I’m Larry Hsia, and I’m first and foremost a parent who loves his son and wants him to have the best possible life, with education as its foundation. I’m a first-generation immigrant who was able to rise from poverty to living an American dream through focusing on education and learning in all respects. I graduated from UCLA with a degree in political science, which has afforded me with a general understanding of the operations of various types of organizations, including schools. I negotiate large-scale land transactions, which requires that I understand finance, law, municipal constraints, and, most importantly, the solutions and answers that are amenable to all parties. I would bring my personal experiences, professional skills, and love of my son to bear on the issues impacting his school.

Panitta Tanakomsirichot

Panitta (Fern) graduated with a Master’s of Business degree from Campbell University (North Carolina) and holds a certificate program degree in Child Care Management from NYU (New York). She also studied children’s fashion design from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York and for 4 years pursued her dreams of designing her own children’s wear line. Panitta continues to actively volunteer at a Buddhist organization to support youth and the movement for world peace. Her goal is to be the voice for children and support their happiness, health and development.

Roadrunner Staff Spotlight

Hi Roadrunners, my name is April Ryan, and I am the Administrative Assistant to the Principal here at Loma Ridge. I live in nearby Rancho Santa Margarita with my husband and two teenage daughters.

Prior to joining IUSD, I was in the video game industry where I worked on a number of children’s games from Barbie to Marvel and many more! When I’m not in the office, I enjoy going to the beach, spending time with family and friends and traveling. I am looking forward to a wonderful 20-21 school year!
