8/22: College Application Jump Start - Juniors, this is a great way to quickly understand the work in front of you to apply to colleges and how to accomplish it. There are three main areas of focus for this workshop: How to kickstart your essay, How to Complete the Common App and How to Complete the SRAR (self reporting academic record). I will be joined by Mr. Anderson from the RRHS English Dept and Mr. Hipp, our Virginia Tech Admissions Rep. This event will run from Noon-3:00 PM in the RRHS library. Sign up here.

5/15: Juniors interested in studying business. The VT Pamplin School of Business is offering a summer session for under represented rising seniors. Learn more and apply here. The deadline is 5/15 but the program takes place in July.
Seniors - It's time to complete your Senior Survey. It is required to complete this survey prior to graduation. Log in to Naviance and look in the top right corner for About Me. Click on About Me and select Survey for My School. The RRHS 2022 Senior Survey is the survey that needs to be completed. A "cheat sheet" is posted on Schoology to help you complete it. It should take about 5 mins to complete. Please make sure provide updates on ALL the colleges you applied to and ALL the scholarships offered to you.
Juniors - how many colleges should you apply? The answer is not 20+! Check out the guidance provided by our University of South Carolina admission rep here. The idea for this video sprang from the recent Spring College Panel where all the admission reps in attendance agreed with what Will stated.

To find the scholarships listed on Naviance, complete the following steps:
- Log in to Naviance
- Select Colleges in the top navigation
- Under Scholarship & Money select Scholarship List
- Choose local scholarships and type in LCPS or RRHS
NOTE: Some scholarship applications require a letter of recommendation. I would ask the teachers who wrote your college letter of recommendation if they would tweak it slightly to address a scholarship committee and that you are worthy of the scholarship vs attending their college.
