PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
The furniture quotes have been submitted and we are close to making the final decisions on furniture for the classrooms. The furniture will be moveable to provide space for the students as they learn through the four domains of art. There will be lots of movement and collaboration in the classrooms and the furniture will support this style of learning.
The teachers gathered together last week to brainstorm how to explain art integration to families. The teachers decided to demonstrate a lesson that they will use at Advantage Arts Academy. Each week we will feature a different teacher doing a quick lesson to demonstrate art integration. The link below is a video of our amazing 3rd grade teacher, Stephanie Robinson, as she shares how dance and movement can be used to help students remember important aspects of non-fictional text. Next week another one of our other amazing teachers will share a quick lesson so that you can see how art is integrated into the curriculum.
We toured the building last week and saw the amazing progress they have made. See below for an update on the building. Go to our Facebook page, follow and like the page, and then watch the tour. We will do another visit to the building on May 1st.
We are working hard for our students to ensure the school year starts off right. Make sure to tell all your friends about the school. If you have any questions please email me at levans@advantagearts.org.
Thank you,
Principal Lisa Evans

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Pieces are coming together quickly to make the building look like a school! If you missed our building tour last week make sure to find Advantage Arts on Facebook and watch the tour. We will be doing another tour soon. Below are some changes we saw this last week.
*The parking lot and entrance are almost complete. The parking lot and striping
are finished. Now, crews are working on the striping along 11800 South.
*The sprinkling system and final grade with topsoil for the landscape is almost
complete. Although this is almost completed, we likely won’t see sod until 6-1.
*Inside the building the ceiling grids are being put in and classrooms are taking
shape. Some classrooms have ceiling tiles already installed.
*After that come cabinets, sinks, and carpet which will basically complete the
room until we receive desks, whiteboard, tack boards, etc.
*The floors are being prepped throughout the building for the VCT, VCP,
and carpet.
*The kitchen is almost complete with the ceiling and the hood going in this week.
We should be able to start installing equipment in the kitchen in about 2 weeks
