Imagination Celebration is now Imagination Fort Worth

Different name, same incredible program!

After 25 years of "Imagination Celebration Special Weekend for the Deaf," we are becoming "Imagination Fort Worth Special Weekend for the Deaf." Our program will continue to provide workshops and performances with stellar artists, Deaf and hearing. Just take a look and see who we have lined up for this year's quarter-century anniversary!

National Theatre for the Deaf

We are so privileged to bring you a performance and workshops with the crew from National Theatre for the Deaf during our weekend. They will be providing us with our opening ceremony entertainment this year. You can read all about their beginnings, shows, current calendar, and performers at http://www.ntd.org/

Peter Cook

Peter Cook will be "in the house" during the weekend with workshops and a performance. Many of you remember Peter, and his storytelling genius, from past years at Imagination Celebration. He will be with us to celebrate our 25th year, and we couldn't be more excited. You can see one of his stories below, and see many more videos of Peter's ASL stories on YouTube.

Fred Beam and Invisible Hands

If you have attended any of the past twenty-five Imagination weekends, then you have met the energetic and enthusiastic dancer. His presence is well-known at Imagination's weekends, and we have loved learning old and new dance steps from his crew of expressive yet graceful team. Below is a great message from Fred, and his colleague, Antoine. We look forward to having Fred teach and entertain us again this year!

Sean Moore

Sean Moore, from Texas School for the Deaf will be joining us to present a workshop entitled, "Watercolors: Chemical Reaction with Colorful Results". He is a veteran science and math teacher at Texas School for the Deaf in Austin. After working as an analyst for the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration for four years, he states he was called to teaching and moved to Austin, where he has lived and taught for five years.

Matt Daigle

Matt Daigle is also an alumni at Imagination Celebration, and has delighted us with his witty cartoons and humor. You can find him on the web at http://www.mdaigletoons.com/ . He has had numerous cartoons and books published, along with t-shirt designs.

Amber Galloway-Gallego

You will love her! She is an American Sign Language Interpreter who specializes in music. In an article by the Houston Chronicle, “With a rapper’s swagger, she lets it fly, signing rapid-fire lyrics. She’s hired to stand at the side of the stage and interpret Madonna and Paul McCartney, Lady Gaga and Rage Against the Machine for deaf audience members. She works South by Southwest every year, and she is in high demand at music festivals such as Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza.” You can see her ASL rendition of Taylor Swift's "Shake it Off" below, and check out her other music and sign videos on YouTube.

Kent Kennedy

Kent Kennedy– New to Imagination Fort Worth, Kent is A loyal Texas native, who attended Rochester Institute of Technology/National Technical Institute for the Deaf in New York, resides in Austin and is married to a native Austinite, Connie. He is the proud father of two beautiful Deaf daughters. He has tutored and taught ASL at Austin Community College, and for the Austin Sign Language School, and Texas Education Agency– Communication Skills Workshop. He has worked closely with Interpreters for almost thirty years. He served the Deaf Community as the vice-president and president respectively for the National Association of the Deaf. He has always enjoyed playfully teasing people, and loves incorporating that into his stand up comedy. You can see a sample of his storytelling skills below.

Kent Kennedy

Kelli Williams-Mirus

Kelli has been involved in the arts as a director, actor, and drama instructor. Her love of art has spilled over into the scrapbooking realm and mixed media art. She launched "Kelli's Art Studio" page on Facebook a few months ago. You can find her at www.facebook.com/deafartstudio. Kelli will be presenting a string art workshop. We welcome her to #ICFW25.

Mondo Drummers

Since 1994, MONDO has provided 16 years of hand drum and percussion instruction for over 5,000 children in Fort Worth and Tarrant County at its studio in the Fairmount neighborhood. The MONDO drummers will be presenting their craft during workshops at our celebration. You can find more information and You Tube videos of them at www.mondodrummers.com .

Janet Morrow

Ms. Morrow will be joining us again this year for some hands-on art projects. You may remember the resin and wire art that you all created a year ago. We can't wait to see what she has in store for our creative minds this year.
