GCS Media Matters

Upcoming Task and Dates to Remember for this Week.

Click below to check out Erwin Montessori's Read & Ride Program

Erwin Montessori
There are seven stationary bikes in the Erwin Montessori library, all acquired through school community donations. At the beginning of the year 2nd -5th grade classes came to the library for a brief orientation and received two passes for the READ & RIDE program. Teachers allow students to come throughout the day, usually first thing in the morning, at the end of the day, or during Guided Reading small group work time. On rainy days it may get used right before or after lunch and during recess times. Students sign in when they get to the library, choose a magazine to read if they did not bring a book, and ride a bike for 15 minutes. They love it! Teachers have discretion over how they manage students leaving their classroom -- some use it as an incentive to get work done while others may include it in a behavior contract or just allow students to rotate through to help get the wiggles out throughout the day.
