A note from the PRE Library:

Read Across America week is next week! February 28th through March 4th, we are looking forward to celebrating reading in many different ways right here at PRE! Below are a few of the activities...

Mystery Readers: We would like to have a mystery reader in every classroom, each day that week. You can use this link to sign up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0A4AAFAC23A64-premystery1

Author Visit: We are so excited to announce our amazing and generous PTO is hosting a Virtual Author Visit! Kari Lavalle, author of We Move the World, will be zooming in with ALL grade levels on Thursday, March 3rd. If you would like to order a signed copy of her book, you can order from Kari's local bookstore in Austin, Texas. The deadline is March 4. Here is the link: https://blackpearlbookstore.com/kari-lavelle

We will also have spirit days, trivia on announcements, reading with buddy classes and more! I am confident this will be a fun and memorable week for our students! Thank you for your support!

Book Drive February 28th – March 4th

Donate gently used books for grades K-6. There will be donation boxes outside of the office during Read Across America Week. The books will be sorted at the March 9th community service event. Your donations will support a local Bookmobile in the KC area. Please consider sharing your love of reading with others by making books more accessible to all kids.

Community Service

Please join us for our March community service project where we will be sorting and boxing up the books collected from the book drive. We will also be making bookmarks. These donations will support a local Partner School Program that provides new and used books on a monthly basis to approximately 3,000 students within the KC area. Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. Thank you! Our next event will be Wednesday, March 9th from 3:45-4:45pm. Students can sign up to participate after school from 3:45-4:45pm. Please note our younger students (K and 1st) will need to be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. All students will need to be signed out by an adult at the end of the activity at 4:45pm. Each event will start with a brief introduction to the organization we are serving and a little bit about how our work will make an impact. We hope students are able to draw the connection to the "why" we serve while we participate in the hands on activity.
