Straight from Station

November 20, 2020

At the November 17th Board meeting, Dr. Harris reiterated that the district will continue following its established metrics. This means the district will remain in Distance Learning (Step 2) until the data shows it is safe to return to the Hybrid mode. Starting today, Illinois will enter Tier 3 COVID-19 Resurgence Mitigations.

SEL Survey

Dear Parents,

Our school values input from our students to continue to monitor and improve programming for your children in the areas of Social and Emotional Learning.
In order to learn more about the experiences of your child at school, we are asking for their feedback via a brief online survey that will be administered on December 2nd. This experience is similar to the SEL surveys conducted over the last 2 years. All survey responses are confidential. No students at our school will see how your child responds to the questions. A separate organization, ECRA Consulting, will manage all data collection to ensure confidentiality. The survey will take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete, and will be an invaluable source of information for Barrington 220 as we work to improve upon the support for our students in the area of social emotional learning. We thank you in advance for your support. Should you have any questions about your child’s participation, please do not hesitate to reach out to your building principal.

Yearbook Photo Contest: "Zoom-mates"

For the 2020-2021 Station Yearbook, we'd like to feature some photos of students zooming, studying, reading, etc. with their pets. We'll feature these photos of students and their "zoom-mates" on a special spread in the yearbook. Please submit pictures to krogers@barrington220.org and include your child's name and the pet's name (if you want the pet's name printed in the yearbook).

Station Basketball Update

As you may know, on November 17th Governor Pritzker made an announcement that our state will be moving to Tier 3 Resurgence Mitigations. The Illinois State Board of Education clarified that these Tier 3 Resurgence Mitigations do address organized group recreational activities (sports, indoor sports, and activity facilities, etc.), which include school-based activities. The mitigations pause all indoor group sporting and recreational activities, including youth and adult recreational sports, park districts, and travel league, and require the closure of locker rooms.

Therefore at this time, the Middle Schools will be canceling the upcoming basketball contact days for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.

It is our hope that during the second semester, the middle schools will be able to resume offering athletic experiences to our students.

Until then, we wish you and your families a healthy and safe holiday season.
