Civil War Amendments by Jackson Liff
13th Amendment
No more slaves! This amendment made slavery illegal.
14th Amendment
Equal protection!
This amendment promises citizenship to anyone that was born in the U.S.. A lot of slaves and their children were born in the U.S., so this is good!
It also promises due process. This means the government has to treat all people fairly. Laws have to be fair and the government can't limit people's life, liberty or property.
Everyone is also guaranteed equal protection. Everyone has to have the same rights, no matter what race they are.
