2018-19: Leading the Herd (1)
Welcome Back, Longhorns!
Please read all the way through to the end of this newsletter. It contains an exciting piece of information just for you!
We can't wait to see your smiling faces at Meet the Teacher this week! Remember that if you will be walking your child to class on the first day, you will want to drop your license off so we can run your V-soft sticker while you walk around. Pick up your tag on the way out, and you will be able to skip the long line on Day 1!
Walking your children back:
Any/Every Day - All parents may walk to the Hug&Kiss zone in the foyer, and children will continue past the hallway doors on their own (We always have staff in the hallways to help!)
Day 1 (August 21) - All grades; parents must have visitor sticker
Days 1-3 (August 21, 22, 23) PK and Kdg; parents must check in at front desk and get visitor sticker
Days 1-5 (August 21, 22, 23, 24, 27) PK; parents must check in at front desk and get visitor sticker
Thank you! This helps us ensure that staff attention is focused on children and safe protocols are in practice.
Meet Your 2nd Grade Homeroom Teacher: Mrs. Adams, room 205
I am thrilled to be teaching another year at Lone Star Elementary, along with moving to another grade level! I taught 3rd grade in Willis ISD before moving to Montgomery ISD. I taught first grade for 5 years here at Lone Star and this will be my first year to teach 2nd grade. I could not be more excited for this adventure!
I was born and raised in Willis, TX. I grew up playing sports and went to Galveston Jr. College on a full scholarship to play softball. After having surgery on my elbow by second year, I decided to solely focus on my education to become a teacher and transferred to Sam Houston State University where I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies.
My husband and I got married on the same softball field we met on during a Co-Ed softball tournament. We have 2 children, my son is 2 years old and is full of energy. He loves anything outside and tractors! My daughter is 5 months old and smiles constantly, her giggle may be my favorite sound. They are both such blessings in our lives and bring us so much joy!
My family and I enjoy all things outdoors, you might find us paddle boarding, 4 wheeling, playing at the park, riding bikes or swimming when I am not at school.
