Crosstown Reading Challenge
We are excited to announce our author visit and kick of our Crosstown Reading Challenge! This year our All School Read book, in conjunction with Madison Junior High, will be Scritch Scratch by Lindsay Currie. Lindsay will be chatting with our students on Tuesday, October 4. This will kick off our month of Scritch Scratch activities, which will culminate with a ghostly scavenger hunt throughout Naperville at the end of the month.
Scritch Scratch is a wonderful ghost story with lots of Chicago history woven in—for example, did you know that Lincoln Park was built on top of a graveyard? This would be a fantastic story to read with your whole family and participate in our events. Copies of Scritch Scratch can be purchased in our LC for $8, and Lindsay Currie will sign every copy we sell! We also have hardcover copies of her latest book, The Girl in White, on sale for $17. She will also sign these! Help us support our students’ literacy and love of reading with these fun events!
Thanks to everyone who has supported our Fall Fundraiser, we have seen great success so far and are currently 1st place in the district for Junior Highs. As of Friday, we are still short of our goal of $50,000. There is still great opportunities for your student to get sales and receive prizes!
Every 18 sales credits received by midnight on Tuesday will be an opportunity to win $1-$20 or even $100 at lunch on Wednesday. 30 prize credits or more makes you eligible for the Prize Scramble where you could win a mini helicopter, air lounger, Smart TV, and more!
One last push to secure our 1st place standing and reach our fundraising goal!

October Home & School Meeting
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, October 26th at 7pm, via ZOOM. Our Adopt a School Board of Education Representative, Tony Casey, will be zooming into our meeting to discuss his initiatives on the board this year.
For any questions, please contact Tammy Schultz and Melinda Watson at firstname.lastname@example.org
Yearbook Club starts next Wednesday, September 28th and is open to all 6th -8th grade students. We will meet weekly on Wednesdays from 3-3:45 p.m through March. This a perfect opportunity for students to become involved in a club that highlights their creative side. Students will be a part of all aspects of creating a yearbook, including picking a theme, taking pictures, and creating layouts. This a great experience for students to leave a permanet mark at WJHS.
Our first student council meeting will take place THIS Thursday, September 22 at 7:15am in Room 236. Please try to have your child here on time as it is very disruptive to have students trickling in. It’s not too late to join! If your child would like to be part of Student Council, they should pick up an application in room 236. Email email@example.com.
