Dragon Baseball Giving Back
We are continuing a Dragon Baseball tradition this year by participating in Phillip's Wish.
Phillip's Wish is a non-profit organization that was founded by a little boy who saw a need in the world and decided to do something about it. His concern for the homeless was the catalyst to help thousands by gifting them with blankets, coats, sleeping bags, toys, toiletries and food. With your help, Phillip's Wish, that everyone will be warm and cared for, can be a reality.
Dragon Baseball will be collecting warm, winter gloves.
In years past, Dragon Baseball collected gloves, mostly adult sizes but some kids', too. In the last two years, we've collected well over a 1000 pair for our "houseless" friends to have during the cold, winter season.
We will have collection boxes at the front offices at CHS and CSHS
as well as Coach Sellers' classroom.
Thank you for supporting Phillip's Wish and our Coaches' desires to instill a love of service with our boys!
CHS Real World Wednesday
On Wednesday, November 28th during all lunches, students are invited to drop in and listen to CHS Parent Lieutenant Colonel Cathy Almand speak about:
Navigating the Service Academy Application Process.
As an Air Force recruiter and Air Force Academy Alumna, she will also give extra tips that carry over to all of your college applications. Service Academies are highly selective with a 10% acceptance rate. Learn about the extra steps required and how you can make your applications to selective colleges and programs stand out! She will give tips for students at all levels of high school.
Students, grab your lunches and head to the library. She will speak during the last 20 minutes of all 3 lunches.
We are always looking for Real World Wednesday speakers. Contact Heather Loomis at heather.loomis@southlakecarroll.edu if you are interested in speaking to our students.
DEADLINE for Senior’s Yearbook Recognition Ad is November 26th
Senior Parents,
It’s time to purchase your senior’s yearbook recognition ad! These recognition or senior ads are a great way for parents, families and friends to commemorate student achievements and important milestones. In addition, revenues from senior ads help our school to create a better yearbook.
You may purchase and create your ad online at www.jostensadservice.com. There you can choose your ad size and layout, enter your text and upload your photos as well as proof your ad. Jostens is managing all yearbook ad sales online, so please do not send materials to the school. Please take into account our school's ad content guidelines on the bottom of the attached form during the creation of your ad online.
All ad orders must be placed by 11/26/2018. This deadline ensures that yearbooks are completed, printed, bound and shipped to the school so that they can be ready for distribution to students in mid-May. This deadline will not be extended.
Please remember, the cost of the ad listed on the flier does not include the yearbook itself. Please purchase the yearbook along with your advertisement directly from the Jostens web site. (You can do so after creating your senior advertisement by clicking “continue shopping” and “2019 yearbook.” The final checkout page will then include both the yearbook and the advertisement.)
More information on ad creation and pricing can be found in the attached document. Please contact yearbook adviser Natalie Brown at Natalie.brown@southlakecarroll.edu with any questions.

Carroll Theatre Announces Side Show - Celebrating What Makes Us Unique
Coming to Carroll Senior High School Theatre on December 6th – 9th, Side Show delivers an impressive reminder of the importance of understanding, accepting, and celebrating what makes us each unique.
Based on the true story of conjoined twins and Orpheum Circuit entertainers Violet and Daisy Hilton, we meet up with the sisters as they eagerly accept an offer of fame, fortune, and potential romance by Terry, a talent scout, and Buddy, a budding musician. As the starring act of a sideshow on the Orpheum Circuit, the sisters seem to have everything they’ve ever wanted but their personal struggles to fulfill their hearts’ desires are sure to touch audience’s hearts.
Side Show brings home the message of embracing both each other’s and one’s personal uniqueness through soulful performances, powerful lyrics, and beautiful harmonies.

Nurses Note
EPIPENS-
For any of you that use epipens at home, I wanted to let you know that FDA sent out an advisory that some epipens are difficult to remove from the carrier tube. Apparently, the label was misapplied, and it is sticking to the carrier tube not allowing the pen to slide out. Please check your epipens that they can slide out easily in case you ever need it quickly. Medication has not been affected, just the ability to get it out of the tube. This has happened to some epipens with expiration dates of October 2018- October 2019. If you have an epipen in the clinic, I have already checked yours.
Here is the link with more information: https://www.fda.gov/downloads/Drugs/DrugSafety/DrugShortages/UCM624893.pdf
CLOTHING DONATIONS-
As the year goes by, if you are cleaning out your closets, and you have t-shirts, athletic shorts, or sweatpants you are getting rid of, please consider donating them to the CHS clothes closet for students’ use.
MEDICATIONS-
As a reminder, students are not allowed to carry medications (over-the-counter or prescription). You may keep medications in the nurse's office for daily or as needed administration with a signed MAR form. Please be sure medicine is in original container and not expired. Prescriptions also require a doctor signature. I am unable to dispense medicine, even Advil or Tylenol, unless it is the student's own medicine brought in specifically for them.
Thank you for your help!

All students must then sign the bus rider contract. Passes will be available for students to pick-up at the office within three (3) school days. Students must present their pass to the bus driver each time they need to ride or will not be allowed to ride. This pass is not necessary if the student has a valid annual or semester bus pass. Attendance
Arrival
9th & 10th Grade students must enter classrooms by 8:00 am when classes start. All students must sign in at the attendance office if they arrive at 8:01 am or after. Late students must have a doctor's note, parent call or parent note letting attendance know that they are aware that their student was tardy.
Departure
9th Grade students. Parent/guardians of 9th graders must physically sign their student out at the attendance office for early dismissal. If someone other than a parent/guardian is picking up a student, that person must be listed on the family's emergency contact list located in Family Access. Parents/guardians must contact the attendance office if a person - not on their emergency contact list - is picking up their child. The office is required to make a copy of that person's driver's license in order for the student to be released and that person needs to sign the student out.
10th Grade. As we know, many of our 10th graders drive, therefore they are permitted to sign-out with the attendance office for an early dismissal provided parents/guardians have notified the attendance office in writing. The note from parents requesting an early dismissal must be dated/signed and dropped off at the attendance office first thing in the morning. We will then provide the student with a pass to return to the attendance office at the early dismissal time to sign-out and exit the campus. If your 10th grader is returning that day, please ensure they sign in at the attendance office upon return so their attendance record will be noted properly.
FYI, For our students’ safety, it is important that they sign in when arriving late or sign out when leaving early. Students who do not comply with this safety measure will be referred to the Assistant Principal’s office per the CHS Handbook.
