A Weekly Skills Agenda for the week of January 11-15, 2016

This Week in Review

This week we began learning about weather and seasons. We learned that the Earth's rotation causes the seasons to change. Ask your child to name the seasons and tell you what happens to the weather each season. We learned that a scientist studies the weather. Ask your child to tell you the name of this scientist and to name some tools the scientist uses to measure the weather. Which tool goes all the way up to the sky to tell us about the atmosphere. Which tool measures wind speed? What is a rain gauge? Weather affects us in many ways. Ask your child to name some ways the weather affect us such as how we dress, what we do, and what we eat.

Review all letters and sounds introduced

Review number recognition 1-20

Listen for and make rhyming words

Count to 100 by 10s and 1s

Practice listening for and saying all sounds in words (ex. Shoe=sh-oo; Cat=c-a-t)

Review all sight words introduced

Read from reading folder, poetry folder, and Ziploc bag of books

HIghlights

I will be out of the classroom Monday through Friday next week. If you have any transportation changes or urgent communication during the day, please call the office. Mrs. Brooks will be subbing for me. She will write daily behavior in agendas and cover the normal curriculum. I will not send reading folders. However, the poetry folder should come home on Tuesday and homework may be in agendas as well. I will try to check my email once each day, but I can't guarantee it will be checked during school hours. However, I will be back on Friday to answer any emails at that time. I'll update pictures soon. I have lots of pictures from our Christmas celebrations to share with you.
