Partnership. Performance. Pride.

Hello Parents,

It has been yet another productive week at GHS. All plans have been finalized for Wednesday's professional learning communities that all of our staff will partcipate in. Please remember that Wednesday is a delayed opening for students and school is closed on Friday for students due to professional development. The only exceptions on Wednesday are students currently enrolled in AP classes. AP students should report to school at normal time for their respective AP practice test on Wednesday while all others should report at 9:55 a.m.

The week ahead is sure to be filled with high energy and school spirit with themed days leading up to Thursday's Olympic-themed pep rally and Saturday evening's "Winter Ball" dance. A few lucky attendees at the dance will win big-time prizes including spots on the Freshmen & Sophomore class trips, a Senior trip to Disney World for a Junior, and two prom tickets for a Senior. There is still time for your child to pick up their permission form in our Main Office to attend.

Our Guidance staff will be working diligently throughout the next week to spend time with each student on their caseload to officially enter their 2018-2019 course requests on the heels of the many steps that we have taken over the past two weeks to best prepare families to make these impactful decisions. 2018-2019 course selections will be available in March in the MMS system for parents to view.

Below, you will find a short video communicating what parents of student-athletes need to know regarding NCAA eligibility and recruiting. Rising to the level of athletic competition collegiately or professionally is a dream that many student-athletes have but one that has to be pursued intensely on a number of levels as well as assessed authentically. I have also included links to some additional NCAA resources for parents to review.

In Partnership,

Sean Gorman
