October Newsletter
Message From Mrs. T
Happy Fall!!!
Thank you for helping keep all of our kids safe when traveling through our parking lot by abiding by the following rules:
* Please drive 10 mph or less
* Look all directions while driving to make sure that there are no people in the driving path
* Stay off of your cell phone or anything else that may distract you
* Follow the correct traffic flow (enter and exit the parking lot at the pool roundabout)
Everyday Counts! Students who have low rate of absences are more likely to graduate high school, perform at grade level, and make a year or more of growth. Please help us to make sure that your student is at school each day unless they are ill. Our attendance rate for the month of September was 92.48%. Our goal is to reach 95%, so we are SOOOOO close!
If at any point your family needs any support, please reach out to our office and let us know how we can help.

Did you know many federal, state and local funding sources for TSD schools are based on the number of students eligible for free or reduced school meals? When you apply for free and reduced meal services, your school is eligible for additional funding that is important to maintain valuable school programs and services for families.
And, in addition to meal benefits, families who qualify for free or reduced meals are also eligible for other benefits, including reduced or waived school fees, technology support and internet access, as well as assistance with costs for a number of school programs like athletics and before/after school extracurricular activities.
September Attendance Challenge
During the month of October, we will be running an attendance campaign! There is a high correlation between high academic achievement, strong social connections and high graduation rates for students having a high rate of being present at school. During the campaign, we will select 5 random days to hand out special treats and prizes for students who are present that day. This is our way of saying thank you for being at school. Our school is working towards having an attendance rate of 95% or higher each week. Here is how we have been doing so far:
Week of:
- 8/16 - 89%
- 8/22 - 89%
- 8/29 - 85%
- 9/5 - 89%
- 9/12 - 94% (so close)
- 9/19 - 93%
Congratulations to 4th grade, who had two weeks with 95%! Please work together with your student, and our staff, to have your students be at school unless they are sick. If you need support with this, please call our front office or reach out to your student's teacher.
