Who were the people associated with the change?
Galileo Galilei
He was the first astronomer to use the telescope to observe the planets and stars. He found Callisto, Galilean moons, Europa, Ganymede, and Io.
The church accused him of heresy because he said that the Earth was not stationary or the center of the universe, in fact he said that the Earth and other planets orbited around the sun. He wrote a book called the Dialogue about his findings confirming his theories and this infuriated the church. So Pope Paul V put Galileo under house arrest for the remainder of his life from 1564-1642.
Nicolaus Copernicus
He used trigonometry to show the movements in the planets.
In the year 1543 Nicolaus Capernicus confermed that the earth and planets revolved around the sun.
Isaac Newton
He figured out that when light passes through a prim, the light turns into colors called spectrum. He was the first astronomer to create a telescope.
Isaac Newton defined the law of motion and the universal gravitation. He was also the author of a famous book called the Principia.

Johannes Kepler
He had three laws that defined planetary motion. His first law was that the orbit of every planet is an ellipse with the sun at a focus. The second law was a line joining a planet and the sun sweeps out equal areas during equal intervals of time. Lastly, his third law was that the square of the orbital period of a planet is directly proportional to the cube of the semi-major axis of its orbit. He witnessed a comet in 1577 and this furthered his interest in astronomy. His work later helped Isaac Newton's own theory of theory of gravitation.
How did the change impact society at the time?
It impacted the church because astronomers were beginning to find out that the Earth was not the center of the universe and the Earth and other planets orbited the sun. The Scientific Revolution helped the merchant class because astronomers were inventing new things to help them with their work and other people wanted to buy them. It increased the wealth of Europeans and tax revenues increased causing them to increase their wealth even more.

How is the change evidenced in today's modern society?
The Scientific Revolution impacted us in many ways, because it caused us to think outside the box. This led to the industrialization period and the study of medicine. Technology was introduced into the world because of the Scientific Revolution. Without the Scientific Revolution no one would have been curious about things.
