As they have been requested, several PLCs have popped up in LISD over the last year. The goals for PLCs this year are 1. Planning with the Learning Targets in mind, 2. Intentional LEADers Series

This year you will all have the opportunity to join a new Professional Learning group called "Intentional LEADers”. This optional professional learning group will replace the idea of the “Innovators” group from a couple of years ago and is open to any and all teachers who would like to register and participate.


The focus of this series is on classroom implementation of the skills outlined in the World Language LEAD document that was shared with you at the beginning of this year. Specifically: 1) meaningful language use, 2) using comprehensible input, and 3) eliciting comprehensible output.


Each series has 2 dates and locations for your convenience. Both sessions will be the same- just choose one that works for you. The expectation is that you attend all each series (3 dates in total). Light dinner will be provided at each session.

Region 10 LOTE Summit "Pathway to Proficiency-Centered Teaching"

Where are you on the Pathway to Proficiency-Centered Teaching? Whether you are just learning about the new TEKS or whether you’re already designing proficiency-centered instruction, there’s a learning experience for you at the LOTE Foreign Language Summit. Get inspired by keynote Linda Egnatz, ACTFL Teacher of the Year 2014, as she energizes and informs about ACTFL’s Core Practice, teaching grammar as a concept for use in context. Interactive sessions will align to four content strands to meet the needs of educators with novice, intermediate and advanced proficiency teaching skills: Foundational Knowledge, Assessment, Unit Design and Instructional Design. Choose from diverse learning experiences such as panels, workshops, networking zones and creative spaces.

Our state conference is being held locally this year in Arlington, TX.

Congratulations to Patry Marcum-Lerwick (Killough) & Guario Correa-Robles (Griffin MS) who will be presenting this year! Summer Love & Annie Rivera will also be presenting at this conference.
