NHS Band & Guard
The Weekend Update: 9/13-14
Last Chance for Grasso Program Ads!
All ads and artwork for the Grasso Program Book are due on September 13!! We are WAY below our goals for this year, so please try to sell a few more before Friday's deadline...
And, don't forget you can also place personal ads and shout-outs for family members and friends; just complete the form yourself and check off Band Booster/Patron.
Are you ready for some Football?
Welcome to our first home football game of the season! All Band & Guard members are expected to be present at home football games. If you have a conflict, please speak to Mr. Eckhardt.
Arrival: Band Members @ 5:15 pm ready to practice in the band room at 5:30 pm. Mr. Eckhardt would like Front Ensemble @ 6:30 pm, and Color Guard @ 6:45 pm.
The game starts at 7:00 pm and the Band & Guard usually performs around 8:00 pm
Band Members should wear show shirt and uniform pants, but can keep the uniform jacket in the garment bag until they head to the stadium. Color Guard should follow dress instructions issued by Grace McKinley/Sue White.
Always bring windbreaker in case of rain!
The Marching Band performs in the stands during the first half of the game, then takes the field during halftime.
Normally, Band Members have free time during the third quarter to get something to eat (bring $), but will return to the stands to play during the 4th quarter.
After the game, Band Members put away instruments & are free to head home – this is usually around 9:30 pm. Update: On Friday, 9/13, all Band & Guard members will be dismissed after half-time (approximately 8:30 pm).
Parents, pick-up is difficult due to cars leaving the football game... You may prefer to wait until the crowd leaves and then pick up your student near the band room. Please keep in touch with them on their cell phones.
Note: Band Members may leave uniforms at NHS overnight for the competition the next day (neatly placed in the garment bag)... but don’t forget extra socks and show shirt, etc. for Saturday. If you plan to leave marching shoes in the garment bag, you will need shoes to go home in and then remember to bring them back on Saturday!
Parents are encouraged to come to the halftime show - hope to see you there! (And, if you go, please sign up for Friday Night Pit Crew... it's easy, fun and we need your help!)
