Zone 3: Analysis/Close Reading

Which words or phrases helped us learn more about the text, characters, or life?

"She thought the owls were doomed, but Roy wasn't ready to give up hope." This helped us learn something about Roy. This shows how Roy is not a quitter and just because everyone else thinks its over, Roy will not give up. :)

Why is this line or passage important to the text as a whole?

There were baby owls burrowing on a construction site and the main character Roy wanted to stop the construction workers from building a Mother Paula's pancake house and burying the owls. When it looked like it was just about over, Roy decided not to quit. If he was a quitter we wouldn't know what would happen to the owls.
