WAYS TO HELP DURING THE HOLIDAYS AT EV
The holiday season is upon us! Beginning on Monday 11/25, the holiday giving tree will be located in the EV lobby outside of the main office. Upon the tree will be tags with specific items for purchase for one of our very own East Vincent students or their family members. This is an anonymous way in which to help those less fortunate in order to provide their loved ones with some needed or wished for items during the holiday season. The tree will be in place for conferences, so it is a perfect time to grab a tag or two when you come in for your child’s conference(s). If you are willing and able to participate, please return wrapped gifts, with the tag attached, to EV by December 16th.
This holiday season, K Kids will be collecting new toys (please no gift wrap) to donate to Project Outreach. Project Outreach is a local organization that supports families with a food pantry, transportation, furniture, rental and utility assistance as well as providing gifts to children. Toys will be accepted until Wednesday, December 11th. Please help us make the season brighter for local families. If you have any questions, please contact Mary Hoff at mhoff@ojrsd.net or Jen Marshall at 610-469-5733.
Thank you for supporting our East Vincent community during the holiday season!
BUS SAFETY UPDATES
In the new bus contract with GNL, buses will have GPS coverage, which will allow transportation live access to bus locations. The buses will be outfitted with new cameras and an increase from 2 cameras to 3 cameras. The third camera will be a dome camera with audio that captures middle and back of the bus activity. Cameras will have the capacity to share via a cloud service to transportation when they're in a location with stable WiFi service. Installation of the new devices will occur as soon as January for some of the buses. Buses have updated signage, "Owen J. Roberts SD" labeled on the outside of all buses that drive for OJRSD.
SLEEP HEALTH AND DELAYED START
A Message from Dr. Marchini:
Please see the following links below in regards to adolescent sleep health and school start times. There is a link to a Delayed Start Survey that gives you a chance to choose one of the options available as your first choice and second choice. I am also including links regarding the options, cost analysis and a video about sleep health from Wendy Troxel. Also included is the State Advisory Committee report on this topic. As you answer the questions, please refer to all of this information. This link will be available until December 20th, 2019 to give everyone plenty of time to participate.
The data collected on the survey, along with information received from the community regarding options, challenges, and concerns, will be presented to the OJRSD School Board in January. I appreciate everyone’s input and all of the rich discussion around this issue. The most impressive component of the meetings I have attended as well as the many informal conversations I have had with staff and parents, is that everyone involved has had one goal in mind – student health and student success. Thank you for everyone’s very candid conversations and I am proud to be part of this learning community. See all links below.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT
LEARNING SUPPORT TEACHER, MRS. GRANT
Hi, my name is Denise Grant. East Vincent has been my second home since 2009 when my oldest son started kindergarten in Dr. Senseny's class. I've worn many hats at EV over the past 10 years: parent, PTA Executive Board member, paraprofessional, long term sub, and now Learning Support teacher (since 2017). My previous teaching experience was as a classroom teacher in Parsippany, NJ, and as a Service Coordinator for the Chester County Intermediate Unit focusing on Preschool Special Education.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two sons (ages 12 and 15). In my free time I moonlight as Uber driver, taking my boys to their many extra curriculars. It is a delight watching them participate in the activities they love. As a family we travel often during the summer months. In my free time I enjoy cooking, watching tv/movies, cheering on the Yankees and the Cowboys, and treating myself to massages, manicures and naps.
SCHOOL COUNSELOR, MRS. QUINN
My name is Chrissie Quinn and I’ve been the school counselor at East Vincent since 2007. I’m excited to be back this year after being a student myself while on sabbatical last school year. When I’m not at EV helping students and families, I’m spending time with my husband and 3 kids; Taylor is 11 and Jack & Shamus are 8 year old twins. The beach is my favorite place in the world (hence the career choice) and I love all things music, reading and just laughing and enjoying life! Your kids will probably tell you that I’m weird and silly, and my hope is that they all can embrace their inner silly side and be comfortable in their own skin...life is too short for anything else!
FIRST PLACE MEDALIST IN THE WARWICK FUN RUN
Sixth grade runner, Ryan, battled the elements at the 48th annual Fun Run at Warwick Park. Despite the mud and rain, Ryan was ahead of the pack and earned a 1st place medal in the 1.8 mile run. Congratulations, Ryan! We're proud of you!

HORSE BACK RIDING SERIES WINNERS
Addison, 3rd grade, placed second in EZGo horse back riding series receiving the title of Grand Reserve for the Leadline class. She was honored at a banquet last Saturday night.

Addison, 3rd grade, won her division of the Freedom Horse Show Series during her first year of competing. Points are compiled at the end of a full year of competing and prizes, including her Champion ribbon, were handed out at the year end banquet held at Downingtown Country Club. Addison will now compete at the next level up beginning in December.
