The Dot Project: Do you know what negative space is in art? Students are learning this concept as we begin our next Dot Project. Artist are painting around dots taped onto the art paper, when the background is complete they remove the dots and whats left Oila! Negative Space!
Our new mandala project is reinforcing the negative space concepts as students are learning to fill in the negative space of the mandalas with nature materials. This week we will sketch and design mandalas and continue building mandalas on the playscape both large and small using a variety of materials! So far we have enjoyed using stones and pinecones!
"Do you want to build a snowman?" Students enjoyed sensory experiences building snowmen out of playdough and pretend snow. We had snowmen from the very, very small to large snowmen! Students also pretended to fill buckets of fake snow and make snow muffins and cakes!

Our approach to learning celebrates the great potential of young children, with the goal of nurturing self-motivated, life-long learners. The learning labs are guided by our Master Teachers as well as the Founder of TerraNichol Academy of The Arts Preschool with low teacher-to-child ratio to allow for one-on-one engagement and thoughtful observation. Join our small community school for a backstage tour and be inspired by our thoughtful team of Early Childhood Educators here at TerraNichol Academy.
