Ms. Bradley, Ms. Starks and Ms. Wylie's ELA classes enjoyed video-conferences with classes in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Richland One's Watkins-Nance Elementary School.

Book Fair and Family Reading Night

Family Reading Night was a great success for the Book Fair! It was a very well attended event and families were enthusiastic about choosing books and other materials prior to their Spring Break.

Accelerated Reader

SAMS top three Accelerated Reader Point winners were very pleased to be awarded Gift Certificates to the Book Fair.

S.C. Junior Book Award

SAMS students chose "Hero" by Mike Lupica as their favorite nominee. Ms. Coleman's and Ms. Mitchell's classes had the highest participation. Seventh Grader Joseph Beck and 8th Grader Ny'Elle Garvin had their names randomly drawn to receive paperback books for voting.

Family Science and Technology Night

In February, families were given the opportunity to view Fair Projects in the media center and 8 SAMS Technology Stars were recognized during our annual Family Science and Technology Night event.

Girls Book Discussion Groups

This semester, the 6th Grade girls read "The Skin I'M In" by Sharon Flake, the 7th Grade girls read "Emako Blue" by Brenda Woods and the 8th Grade girls read "Who Am I Without Him" by Sharon Flake. Thank you, Ms. Bradley, Ms. Wylie, Ms. Finney and Colonial Life for sharing employee facilitators with us!
