"God Takes Care of Me"
This Sunday we're teaching kids that "God Takes Care of Me" as they learn about Moses and the Red Sea. So often, I need to hide these truths in my heart before I'm ready to teach them to kids on Sunday!
The beginning of that passage in Exodus 13 where Moses is leading the Israelites to the Red Sea says this, "When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, “If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” So God led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea. The Israelites went up out of Egypt ready for battle."
The truth that "God Takes Care of Me" is so real, but I think often happens in ways that I can't see or understand. In this scenario, God's path for the people was longer, but it was for their good- to protect them & keep them safe. He was still taking them to the same destination. While the Lord was making plans for them to avoid war, the people thought they were ready for it. How often do we, in our impatience or pride, think that we're ready for something that the Lord is still trying to prepare us for? The Lord was guiding the people every step of the way. Let's consciously put the Lord first in our lives to guide us to what he has in store for our paths moment by moment.
