GTE October Highlights

Take a look at some of our awesome activities in October!

Happy Fall Ya'll!

Green Tree was at it again with another fun filled month. From our Walk to School event, Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day, Red Ribbon Week, and Trunk or Treat, GTE is definitely the place to be!

A Visit with our Local Fire Department

October 9-15 was National Fire Prevention week. We were fortunate to have the Wentzville Fire Department come and visit with our kindergarten and second grades classes. These kiddos asked great questions and had so much fun touring the Fire Truck!

Walk to School Day!

Our Gators had such a fun time getting together at Boulevard Park, meeting our local police officers, and walking to school. Our students loved representing their houses and learning about safety in our community.

Attention All Campers!

5th grade camp was a great success! These students learned about archery, fishing, and many other fun skills.

October GTE House Event

October's 2022 house event is in the books. Our students were able to break out into teams within their house. These teams allow our older students to practice mentorship, responsibility, and group collaboration with other grade levels in the school! Our goal for these teams is to build a greater sense of community between our grade levels.

Trunk or Treat Fun!

Green Tree's Annual Trunk or Treat Event had an amazing turn out! It was great to see all of our students having such a great time with their friends and families. Thank you to all the families who participated in our event. We could not have done it without you! And of course our PTO. Thank you for organizing a safe and fun event for our GTE families. If you see our PTO volunteers in the hall, please let them know how much we appreciate them!

A Note from Nurse Marcia

Nurse Notes

Potty stuff… Parents of K, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders (sometimes 4th and 5th graders too). Please put a spare pair of underwear and pants in your child's backpack in case of a wet/BM accident. While our clinic has some spare clothing, sizes and quantities are very limited. Donations of easy-on shorts and pants are always appreciated!

Sick stuff… If your child is sent home with a fever or witnessed vomiting at school, they should stay home a minimum of 24 hrs. Once fever/vomit free for 24 hours without the use of medication, they may return.

Clinic stuff… Did you know an appointment system is used in our district for students needing to see the nurse? This started about 2 years ago. Middle and high school students make their own appointments but in elementary school your child's teacher will make one for them.

How it works:

● Student is burning up, feels feverish and tells the teacher.

● Teacher fills out a brief google form on-line that sends an email alert to the nurse.

● Depending on the nature of the visit, the nurse will either call the student down to the clinic or visit the student outside of their classroom with a stocked medical cart.

We make every effort to see all appointments but there may be occasions when we are unable to; for instance, on days with a high volume of students needing to be seen or a situation requiring a lot of the nurse’s attention.

When to see the nurse. The 8 B’s!

Bleeding, Breathing bad, Broken bone, Barfing, Burning up, Bee sting, Big Bump, Body Rash.

Students and teachers are encouraged to utilize the self care kit in their classroom for minor things like small cuts/scrapes, minor sore throats and coughs, headaches, stomach aches, dry skin, chapped lips, minor nose bleeds, or a tooth that just came out! Self care kits have basic supplies to treat these things.
