Definition
Interaction between two different organisms living in close physical association, typically to the advantages of both.
Mutualism
Symbiosis that is beneficial to both organisms involved
Commensalism
An association between two organisms in which one benefits and the other derives neither benefit nor harm.
Parasitism
Non-mutual symbiotic relationship between species, the parasite, benefits at the expense of the other.
Examples
Mutualism
Relationship between trees and certain species of lady bugs. The trees provide food and shelter for the Lady bugs and the lady bug protects the trees.
Commensalism
A deer and ticks.
Parasitism
Parasites are tapeworms, fleas, mosquitos and barnacles.
