1ST QUARTER CELEBRATION & BRONCOVILLE
RED RIBBON DRUG FREE WEEK - DRESS UP DAYS
A NOTE FROM MRS. B
Howdy Bronco Family! I know I have written about reading before, but I cannot stress the importance of building reading skills enough. Reading is the foundation of success in all academic areas. Our dedicated teachers and staff are working tirelessly to help our students grow as readers.
Here are three things you can do at home to support your child’s reading development:
1. READ TOGETHER: Regularly read with your child using age-appropriate books. Spend quality time reading aloud and encourage them to read to you. Discuss the story’s characters and ask questions to make it an enjoyable experience.
2. CREATE A READING ROUTINE: Establish a daily reading routine, promoting consistency and a love for reading. Choose a specific time each day for reading, such as after school or before bed.
3. ENCOURAGE WRITING: Writing complements reading. Please encourage your child to keep a journal, write stories, or pen letters to family members, their teacher, or even me. This not only improves reading but also boosts writing skills and creativity.
Together, we can help our students achieve their full reading potential. Thank you being so supportive in this crucial journey.
Remember, you can always find the latest Meadow ISD news on the MISD website and Facebook page, so go check them out! Also, check your kiddo’s backpack and folders for any important paper notes that may have gone home.
Don’t forget to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about what is going on in the classroom. We are always here to help.
It’s ALWAYS great to be a Bronco!

Hello 3rd grade family,
This week we are continuing our nonfiction unit. Now that we understand and are able to identify graphic features and text features, we are now looking at the five different text structures of nonfiction writing. Text structures are how the author organizes their writing to help inform the readers about a specific topic. We used different examples to practice identifying the text features description and compare and contrast. Using graphic organizers and our SNOTS, students were able to master identifying the purpose of the text structure that the authors used.
In phonics, we worked with combinations, two letters that come together to make an unexpected sound. By understanding each unexpected sound, students are able to spell and identify works that have combination sounds.
In grammar, we reviewed prefixes and suffixes, adjectives, and the simile “busy as a bee.”
In writing, we began our research using Epic Books to gather information on our animals. Students used a graphic organizer to take notes as they researched their animal.
I’m social studies, we worked with compass roses to help understand directions. Students were able to understand the different directions with the compass rose by answering questions and following directions.
Reminders…
Spelling tests are every Friday.
Daily homework needs to be completed and returned everyday.
Please be sure to check and sign your child’s take home folder everyday.
Please Dojo Message me and call the office if your child will not be at school.
Thank you for all you do,
Temple Smith
4TH GRADE
4th and 5th ELAR
Tomorrow is our movie day for both Holes and Because of Winn Dixie. The students have worked diligently and patiently to read the book as a class. They have worked on vocabulary, plot mapping, critical thinking, and inferencing while we have read the novels. I am so proud of their hard work! It is my favorite thing to see them fall in love with the characters and beg to read more each day! Reading is the BEST!
Reminders...
- Students MUST read a minimum of 20 minutes each night. We have a BIG AR goal and lots of prizes here at school they are working towards. Please support them in this!
- I sent home Spelling List 6 today. Our test will be next Thursday!
- Please be preparing for UIL at home. Our competition will be on Nov 14th and Nov 16th. More information will be sent home soon!
Let me know if you need anything! Thanks!

¡Gracias!

4TH GRADE KIDS, KOWS & MORE FIELD TRIP
5TH GRADE
4th & 5th Math
-In 4th grade Math, we have slowly started to divide with whole numbers. We started looking for patterns by dividing with our math facts and using manipulatives, but we should eventually work up to dividing a 4-digit number by a 1-digit divisor.
-In 5th grade, we finished multiplying with decimals and now we will begin to divide with decimals. This will be fun because we have a few students that hate to work long division problems and now we are adding the decimal to it. Yay! 🙂
-All 4th and 5th Graders need to practice multiplication math facts every night for 5 minutes. Please, please, please…the numbers and the work is getting more challenging and not knowing multiplication math facts make it seem impossible. Some students shut down or do not turn in assignments.
Thank you for your support,
Stacy Gamez
Stacy Gamez.

5th Social Studies:
We are working on Settlement and why people move different places in history!
