The “media” refers to the main means of mass communication. This includes everyday items, such as; Television, radio, newspapers and where most people get their daily dose of worldly news and information, the internet. This system, which is known as the media, has attracted every person with a newspaper or piece of technology with its ability to inform the world about the world. The constant urge to look at your phone, whether it is to see the news or to list all the problems in the world on your twitter page to inform other people, has kept us updated and connected more than ever before. It’s quite amazing to see that you can see information from your mom’s Facebook all the way to an article written about how difficult life can be for people living in the slums of India. Media literacy is the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, and create media. People who can take information on an article or a conflict shown in the news, can gain the most amount of knowledge on the topic, and eventually come to their conclusion on where they stand on the situation, are considered “media literate”. Although I would say the opposite for people who, for example, watch a news special on certain religions extremist groups, and judge the entire religion for the actions of those who they see on the news special. This is how most conflicts are created between groups. Not all information is spread or even false information regarding a topic is spread, and people usually decide what they believe based on what they see instead of looking deeper into research.

Super Bowl Commercials
During the Super Bowl, Heinz Ketchup placed an advertisement about their product. In the commercial, a large number of wiener dogs, dressed up as hot dogs ran across a field and jumped at human beings, who dressed up as different products of Heinz. This was a smart idea as they chose "wiener" dogs for the commercial, and the saying that "a dog is a man's best friend" comes into play. The message of the commercial states that ketchup is a hot dog's best friend as they go very well together, so using dogs and humans as a relation was a great tactic and topped the charts for the list of commercials at the Super Bowl. In fact, I bought a bottle of Heinz ketchup at the grocery store after seeing that commercial when I was told to pick up some groceries. The commercial became what its creators wanted it to be; a funny, heartwarming commercial that brought the people of America together.

I believe the FBI has no intentions to completely alter Apple's data encryption, they only need access to a single users device to track down the people involved in the San Bernardino shootings. This is simply to bring more justice to the world. Yes, privacy is important, but we live in a time in which nothing is private anymore. Most of the information about people is already on the internet anyway and we keep adding more to social media. The FBI's request to override the system is only through Apple's ability to do so, the company will not have to worry about hackers using this because it's stated Apple can even bring the encryption back to the way it has been after the FBI's work is done. Apple is simply over thinking the big result the action would cause about the apparatus getting into the wrong hands.

Freedom is the right to act, speak, or think as one wants without restraint. The freedom to have a right to privacy shows that you are protected from anyone including the government, with your personal information and daily lives. "To assure our country's freedom, the government should be able to spy on its citizens.", this contradicts the right to privacy act because if the government has the ability to listen to public phone calls and private information then there is no freedom for us because of so much safety control. This power of eavesdropping on the public is a serious matter, in the wrong hands it could monitor, control, disgrace, and ruin an individual. These unreasonable searches show that there is no freedom with privacy anymore.

Rebellion is the act of violent or non- violent resistance against a specific established power, such as government. Mainly involved against dictatorships, rebellions occur when certain groups of people are living either, under control or restraint, discrimination, unfair treatment, intolerance, etc. Often when protests aren't working as planned, rebellions are created in order to fight back against an establishment to gain freedom. these rebellions are always powerful because they answer to the people also living under harsh conditions posed by certain groups of authority, eventually influencing a good number of people to stand by them in order to get what they deserve. Shay's rebellion is an example of a failed rebellion is an example of a failed rebellion that could have made life today a little different if it were successful. It was a protest that started in 1786, about American farmers fighting against the overload of enforcement on tax by the local and state governments, because of judgement of dept. This unfair taxation infuriated farmers as they weren't able to make as much as other people and were being taxed the most. The rebellion led by Daniel Shay in Massachusetts, as farmers were being threatened to the point where they could have lost their farms. This alerted congressmen of nearby states, and the unfair taxation was set up for justification. Although it wasn't successful at the time, it paved a way for more people to fight for unjust rules in the future.

In the book "1984" by George Orwell, the themes of happiness and freedom are shown as a form of choosing through only having one or the other. In many cases freedom is something that leads to happiness, especially in places and times of the world where people are held in captivity and enslaved into another nation's power. Freedom would be the only thing that means happiness to a person stuck in for the next 5 years for a crime he or she did not commit, that and justice. Freedom is what drives the creative mind, to realize its full potential. But what exactly defines happiness in the dystopian world of "1984"? What exactly makes the people happier than to be free from the thought police, the tele- screens, the outrageous rules they have to follow given by Big-Brother. I believe through freedom you can gain a better form of happiness. On its own it requires very little thought, when life is simple or worry-less. Happiness through freedom is something that you have to earn and work towards, and to fight for to keep it from being taken away, which makes it that more precious. In my opinion, the people who chose happiness over freedom, in "1984" should have known that they could have gotten a more happy life if they fought for freedom. Even in the real world you can see that private information has been invaded by the government as shown by the acts of Edward Snowden who leaked information about this. Even today no has entire freedom to themselves.

The term 'Gas Lighting'' is used when someone makes an untrue statement with such confidence and intensity, that the receiver of the lie becomes confused and doubts his or her own point of view regarding the topic of discussion. It's a very popular yet manipulative tool used by people, especially in government who address the public when they feel they are in a disagreement. It's used to deliberately make someone feel that their perspectives are wrong, commonly used in relationships, when a spouse has cheated on another. I believe the best way to combat the people who use this manipulative tool is to stand up for what you think is true until you are proven wrong with actual facts and proofs, something gas lighters do not have, as all they can rely on is the delivery of their speech, regardless if it's true or or not.

Can we correct humanity? There are many flaws about the world we want to fix, many of them have been an accomplished goal, many are still yet to conquer. One problem we would like to correct is technology, about how we are so dependent on it, from our phones, to our television sets. But can we decrease our dependence towards it? The answer is no, it's possible of course, but most of the work that involve everyday use involve technology. We are living in a point where we can't live without it. Every bit of information we get about the world we get from technology. Even if we try to fix this problem we have, not everyone in the world would agree doing so.
