Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced Thursday that the groups can apply for the funding made available through a supplemental social services block grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The state made an available 200 million dollars for the affected areas.
Citizens could apply and get money for these things.
Costs of building repairs, rebuilding and renovation for child-care providers, health and mental hygiene facilities, senior centers and other health and human services facilities.
Sandy's winds extended up to 175 miles and it dumped 300 trillion gallons of rain.
People should be aware of the damage that a hurricane can cause. They should also be aware of what it takes to fix and aid the affected areas.
People need to help each other at times like these.
